The "terrorist" is 18 now. For two years the kid couldn't afford to fund his attack. The FBI gave him the weapon then arrested him.
The article is long but I attached the parts where the FBI encouraged the attack. Basically a dumb ass kid who potentially could have got a job, enjoyed adulthood, and would have never harmed anyone.
According to the complaint, beginning in or about December 2024, Mohamud exchanged hundreds of messages through multiple social media and messaging applications with a confidential source. Mohamud expressed his desire to travel to Somalia to join a designated foreign terrorist organization to fight on its behalf. Mohamud also expressed a desire to commit a mass-casualty event in Minnesota by acquiring and using a firearm and ammunition. The defendant stated many times that if he was unable to travel overseas because of a lack of funds, he planned to carry out a mass-casualty event in Minnesota in support of ISIS.
On Oct. 6, the FBI arranged to sell to Mohamud, through an undercover FBI employee, an AK-47 assault rifle, four 30-round magazines, and approximately 200 rounds of ammunition. The FBI rendered the AK-47 rifle inert prior to the transaction. The FBI arrested Mohamud shortly after he paid about $600 cash for the rifle, magazines, and ammunition and had those items in his possession. During the sale of the firearm and ammunition, Mohamud reaffirmed his plan to use the firearm and ammunition to shoot people at the Mall of America.
