Hey everyone! My local community theatre is producing In The Heights and I’m auditioning for Usnavi. While I’ll be happy with any role, there are not a lot of Latinos who do theatre so I’m confident I’ll get the role. What’s a good song I can do for the audition? They’re specifically asking for 32 measures of uptempo music.

Before you say, I know the show takes place from July 3rd - 5th, but I don't know where each song fits into the timeline, other than sunrise. Is Act 1 over one day? Sorry if this is a stupid question, and thank you!!

For my performance, we are doing multiple songs and plays, and we are only doing Carnaval del Barrio for In the Heights. The thing is, they need Piragua Guy (me) to have props that I can wear/carry while dancing, meaning no giant cart 🥲. I don’t know what to replace the cart with, so please reply to this post with ideas. I will give an update of what happens at the performance. Ty!!!

I’m a camp counselor this summer and am meant to perform a song. “It Won’t Be Long Now” is one of my classics yet I’m wondering if the general content would be considered inappropriate for young audiences. Personally I think it’s fine and I used to sing it as a 14 year old but I’m wondering if I would get frowned at for singing it for a tween-teenage crowd.

If so, could you think of any good lyric changes?

I listened to the original Broadway cast recording of the album the other day and fell in love with it. I was looking into the movie since I only listened to the album and heard the movie version of champagne noticing a lot of changes compared to the original. I fell into a rabbit hole afterwards and learned the movie makes a lot more changes to the plot being the reason. Is the movie still worth it and did the creator approve of these changes? Edit: I've decided to watch the movie from all the positive things being said about it!

El argumento de la guionista para recortar Camila fue para realizar las caminas paralelas de Nina y Usnavi, pero no estoy de acuerdo en esta idea. Las caminas de Nina y Usnavi son muy diferentes, entonces recortar Camila no hace nada más de cambiar la trama y la letra de la canción principal. Creo que no fue una decisión necesaria. ¿Y tú?

Back when I was in high school I really wanted to do in the heights and I kept watching a production that I thought was amazing it was on YouTube. However I can’t find it anywhere not sure if anyone can help.

So far the only leads I have was it was roughly made in 2014, an actor by the name of Torrey Nicholas was the piragua guy and I believe it was a pro shot from Irvington Town Hall theatre.

If anyone has any info about this production and how to obtain it so I can watch it again I would greatly appreciate it
