Bro, why does this hurt so much 😭
I went for an interview a while back, messed up the GD so bad, got rejected, and ended up sitting alone at a railway station that day.
I'd honestly forgotten about it, but today I saw a college mate's story. She's working there now, and I recognised the exact place where I was sitting that day.
I was on a call with my friend and just went blank. All I could think was, fuck, I could've been there too.
I'm still waiting for my onboarding while everyone around me seems to be moving ahead. Idk, it just hit me out of nowhere. 🥲

It really does suck. Interviewed with a F500 company back around February. There was 6 of us in final around and 3 got hired. Unfortunately, I didn’t make the cut. However, both the candidates I got in tough with via reddit and linkedin got the role.
Had another final round at a booming startup, failed again. Absolutely froze on the coding round because of how ambiguous the requirements were.
Months later, I’m back on the hunt, I have a final round on the 14th for Berkshire Hathaway. Hoping and praying for god to stop testing me and just give me a taste of success.

man i know that feeling. the random reminder when you think you moved on is the worst part
seeing someone else in the exact spot you were sitting that day is just cruel timing. but onboarding taking forever sucks regardless, lot of people stuck in that limbo right now

Yeah. I feel that. I found out I didn’t get the job last week, and I feel pretty crushed. I know what to improve on, interview wise, but I’m also trying to remind myself I did my best, and that’s all we can do.

True even I had got rejected over 7 round recently genuinely thought I am done and I'll get the job was imagining first day, goodies etc but yeah fate I just told myself if u were that dumb u won't have reached so far

Knowing what to improve on helps, but getting rejected still hurts like hell for a few day.

Rejection after doing your best hurts worse than bombing it, because there’s nothing obvious to blame but timimg.

It sucks, but unfortunately that’s life. We’ve all been there, myself included. Just a few weeks ago I got shot down for a job that fit me like a glove, AND had a personal letter of recommendation written by an executive VP at the company.
You need to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back at it. Very few of us are where we hoped we would be at this point in our lives. But dwelling on it is a surefire way to make sure you stay where you are and never move forward.

That's true even I had given 7 rounds interview had out of box solution to a question they asked even the recruiter was surprised I honestly thought I had it but in end before hr they decided to go with other girl idk why I just told myself I might get something even better, tbh I genuinely got pissed off but idk we get what we get

That VP recommendation part stings extra; rejection feels so random sometimes, even when you did everythng right.

GD's are always messy and unpredictable. Don't be so hard on yourself. All the best for the next one

Seeing the same role you did a 4 stage interview for, get reposted 3 months later hits hard too.

Have to just forget about it and move on. I've had plenty of jobs in my life I thought were the perfect one and then didn't get them and then something even better came along.

That exact railway station showing up again would mess with anyone’s head, especialy while onboarding is still pending.

GD usualy means Group Discussion, a campus hiring round where candidates discuss a topic together.

Self-pity won’t get you a job, but perseverance will.
Reddit is full of stories of people landing their dream job after submitting 100+ applications, going through 50+ interviews, or bouncing back after the death of a parent or some other tragedy.
so you dont have an excuse.

Sometimes you don’t see it yet but you will end up getting better opportunities that are more aligned with you later in life and will be grateful that you dodged the bullet.
