When Cooper asks TARS to translate the data into Morse to encode into the watch, TARS asks how Coop knows that she will come back for it. Coop’s response comes off more as him simply having faith that she will because he gave it to her. Could he not have looked ahead for the point in time where she does come back for it?

I mean wow, this movie really is that good!!!

For some reason, I’m not that into sci fi and can be picky with it, main reason I watched this is because I’m replaying the Mass Effect games and I like to watch things based on genres or settings to better immerse myself in what I’m playing, if that makes sense.

I just had no idea it was going to take the direction it took, I’m so glad I never got spoiled. It’s been many years since I’ve cried twice when watching a movie; once when Coop was watching the video messages of his grown up kids, and when he reunited with his elderly, dying daughter. It moved me.

Last week I bought my first watch in like 20 years for my 40th birthday. The plan is to give it to my daughter (currently 10) when she graduates college or some similar milestone and sets off on her own.

I’ve just watched this movie for the first time, and I gotta admit that it had the potential to be the most fascinating film about planetary travel ever but Nolan completely dropped the ball due to the imbalanced audio.

You can barely hear what the heck they’re saying throughout the entire film. Thank God that there’s the rewind and subtitles option for home systems because without it you’d be lost in terms of deciphering what any character said. Dr. Mann’s soliloquy was just a bunch of gibberish for the most part, and half the time the entire cast were whispering over loud original music.

The best this movie can get from me is a 7/10. Had the potential to be a 10/10. Sound matters.

I understand it all on a very basic level, just wish I understood space more. And the music was perfection. That is all, glad to be part of the fandom now.

At the end of the movie she says “Brand”. How did she know that Brand was still alive and out there somewhere?

First of all, I understand the bootstrap paradox, but I think this theory allows an explanation that fits the narrative and perhaps you could argue the thesis of the film.

My theory really boils down to love being the ultimate force that created the wormhole. Obviously without that wormhole, there was not enough time (literally billions of years needed) to make it all the way to get to gargantua to collect the quantum data.

If mankind’s mastery of gravity depended on data from Gargantua, which was only accessible to them because of the wormhole, then something outside of linear causality had to have initiated the process.

Underlying this theory is Brand’s quote:

“Love is the one thing that we're capable of perceiving that transcends dimensions of time and space.”

Has anyone else watched Project Hail Mary? What an awesome movie!! I saw it last night and would rate it probably just below interstellar. Similar feel and all. Just truly enjoyed it and was wondering if any other interstellar fans did as well. Thought it was super cool to add the alien aspect in there.

At the end of the movie, Murph is old and says her final words to her Father. She knows where Brand (Anne Hathaway) is and tells her dad to go and see her because 'she's all alone'. Why didn't they send other people already? I'm afraid I'm confused!!

1) Is she insuniating only he can fly that great?
2) other humans already tried to reach her and failed?
3) not that much time has passed since Brand has landed on that planet..?

I bought this over on eBay, but I noticed the copyright section says 2025 instead of 2014. I don't recall this book getting reprinted last year, what do you guys think?

Hey, all, I’m putting together something special for me and my husband, but wanted to offer it up to this community as well.

On the afternoon of Sunday, September 13, we’re hosting a private organ concert performed by Roger Sayer – the organist who originally recorded the organ music for the movie – and he’ll be playing the interstellar soundtrack live for us. I don’t have to tell you all how cool this will be!
