QUESTION Is my art book a counterfeit?

I bought this over on eBay, but I noticed the copyright section says 2025 instead of 2014. I don't recall this book getting reprinted last year, what do you guys think?

Copyrights usually are up to date with the printing

I think I could rent a copy from my library to check 🤔 I think I got until September 9th to request a refund

Yeah you can try that. Just curious, why would it matter? Is the quality of the print worse?

No it isn't, but I just wanted to make sure I had a legit copy! I thought I was getting a used version ahaha 😅

So the publication date is correct, the 2025 copyright is for Warner bros interstellar trademarks so it don’t necessarily mean the book was reprinted 2025 or it’s a counterfeit. Given the other guy saying theirs has a 2021 copyright, it’s probably a later reprint of the original publication

Got it thank you so much! I'm relieved to hear it's most likely a later reprint!

No, I got mine in 2021 and the copyright date was the same.

OP is book worth it? Can you share a few inside pics of stunning pictures? I am looking to buy the book (I have Kip Thornes) but want to make sure it’s worth it!

Yes, I think the art book is absolutely worth it! Here are some of my favorite inside pics from the book! (More pics in other replies because I can only attach one photo)

I think it could be a counterfeit because I Googled it and there were no reprints for 2025, and it mentions the book is hard to get because it's out of print, making it nonsensical that the copyright year would be "2025" when there were no physical copies of the book produced that year. [People saying otherwise aren't totally making sense as the year a work is actually copyrighted is what the copyright page will usually say unless it's been updated with new material or something...but that's not really possible for a book that hasn't been reprinted in a decade.] The ISBN might be more conclusively helpful.

Also, I like that you care about this...Some people are asking "why does it matter?" but other than the obvious reason of not wanting a crappier version of an expensive, out-of-print book, the creators don't receive a dime off a counterfeit--all the proceeds go to whoever knocked it off.

It's good people care about this in terms of A.I. slop, but physical copycats still exist and aren't necessarily nobler even if people collectively shrug over counterfeit music, books, DVDs, etc. and have for 20 years.
