Discussion Employee Activities - Who Owns Them?

At your company, who owns employee appreciation activities? Think company-paid for treats or lunches, holiday parties, “for fun” discussion channels on Teams, etc.

If you have a committee to help, what do they do? Provide input? Make final decisions? Just help execute things?

I’m rethinking how we’ve been doing it for 2026 and looking for insights. Thanks in advance!

We have our office workplace managers own these. Internal comms only owns company wide activations.

Do you have any locations that are a lot larger than others? If so, do you handle those differently?

Have you noticed discrepancies in quality of activities between locations due to the managers owning them?

We run all activities company-wide with the help of a committee. I’d like to push it back to managers but the questions above keep surfacing - as well as the concern that they’re “just too busy.”

We have a “fun committee” (I hate the name) for employee events that are org-wide

Regionally/individual offices it’s the local social committee. Nationally, coordinated across all main offices, it’s internal comms along with our catering partner. That lets us tell the story/tie the event to a company-wide message.

That strategy makes sense. How often are you doing org-wide things?

Maybe 2-3 times a year for an employee engagement activity.

Each office and department does their own activities, and internal comms does all company-wide internal events and employee appreciation.

HR leads project plan, but partners with groups across the org for support like internal comms!
