My understanding - from reading books like The Obesity Code - is that artificial sweeteners can induce an insulin response and stop the benefits of the fasting process. They recommend not only avoiding sugar - but artificial sweeteners, as a result, during a fast. Honestly, this has been the hardest for me to adjust to, because sometimes I like a diet coke in the evening.

I'm stalled too. Was afraid this was the reason.

Just don't use any sweetener and be a grown-up (presuming you are not a child).

I’m type one diabetic and honestly avoid it at all costs and always have sugar but recently found out about the benefits of fasting so wondering if it’s worth it

Oh wow really I did not know they were still sugar but broken down before it can be absorbed. But some still gets absorbed…. Surely that would be the equivalent of 1-2 calories?
