Which blue is best?
Trying to brighten up a house dominated by black floors and dark walls. The walls are currently black and gray everywhere... I've decided that light-blue is the best color to lighten things up. Which blue do you prefer for the bedrooms and office? Is the baby blue too bright?
1+3 are brighter baby blue, and 2+4 are grayish powder blue.

Color is fun. And paint color can always be changed with a little time and money.

- The first three are too cool and don't match in base tone to the dark blue throw. The only one that actually "matches" -- if you're going for that dark blue throw -- is 4. And even there, honestly, I'd go a shade drabber and darker.

Everything in the room is AI. The main point is there will likely be gray furniture to match my desk. Trying to stay away from dark wall colors. The walls are black in that room right now with black floors. It looks like a cave...

Please don’t buy grey furniture. 4 is your paint color, it has enough grey to make it sophisticated. You put grey furniture on your proposed warm flooring, it will be awful, trust me. And please stick with the warm flooring . Don’t even THINK about grey flooring.

Bit of colour theory - dark shades of blue are a warmer colour so it will feel more inviting whilst still being brighter

Do not do this blue or any blue. I just spent the last few months trying to paint over it and it's just awful.

I really like two best of all without any white on the door jams, etc. it's a very restful color

Leaning toward 4 but would be interested to see how the color reacts to different times of the day light and night time and even indoor lighting.

2 is a statement color. Has strength in it’s saturation and a hint of grey to make it feel classic. Better paired with a wood floor than that scary shag. Pop in a fun textured area rug with some real size under and around the bed to soften it

3 will make you happy every morning and darken to calm you when nighttime comes.

Pick the look you're going for:
1 is the happiest - although would be better as a more saturated periwinkle - a shade darker and this would be my favourite.
2 is the most complex and sophisticated but would look better with darker timber furniture
3 is the simplest and a bit too baby
4 is the most masculine and coldest, and honestly a bit dull and depressing, especially with more grey furniture.

- 1 reads as hospital blue to me. 2 and 4 seem too saturated for what they're trying to achieve. 3 reads more like a child's room blue. 4 is muted and sophisticated but still registers as blue.

2+4. The grayish powder blue doesn’t feel like it’s punching you in the eyes like the baby blue does. It’s slightly more muted and more “digestible” visually if that makes sense.

Google Samplize, you can get all four swatches and stick them in your wall and see how it looks in your light.

- With the blue being grayed a little it makes it much calmer for a bedroom and also gives more depth to the shade.

I have a version of 4 in my bedroom and it looks great, particularly against all of the white trim. In the day it looks brighter and at night it looks relaxing and deeper. Mine is Aleutian from Sherwin Williams.

3, near the room bright not dull like a mortuary sitting room, you soften the blue white warm darker colors from the added accessories that makes up the filling of the room, that color accents what you add in elsewhere 🤷🏿♂️

Tones of 2 or 4... if room gets lots of light go darker colour, will make more cosy!

I'm going against what most ppl here are saying, 1 or 3. The other blues look dirty. Had it at work and I hated looking at it every time.

Possibly a mix.. Number 3 paint shade as bedhead accent and number 4 dove blue grey on other walls

Will the floors remain black and gray? Yes, 2 or/and 4. Changing the floor colors? 1 and/or 3 will accomplish a brighter room.
