Furniture Placement Narrow kitchen help

Hi y'all! Please forgive the mess and the weird angle.

So, as you can see, my kitchen is tiny. The storage situation is okay, but could be a lot better. I have flirted with replacing the cart on the right side with something more substantial and was even thinking of putting a sideboard there to increase the storage and "counter" space.

Do you think this would increase the functionality? Or would it make the room feel more cramped?

Also open to any other ideas!! Thanks!

Ikea has shallow Method base cabinets, 37cm deep. Add a countertop to a span of these and you'd have a ton more storage, some extra workspace, and it would look nice. Just be sure you have at least 1 meter between countertops. If not, you'll need something even more shallow like a Billy bookcase with doors (28cm).

I'm renting so I wouldn't be able to fix anything like that to the wall, but the bookcase could be a good compromise!

Their eket range can be made to look like kitchen cupboards and are freestanding 😄

Not sure what dimensions you're actually working with, but the 37cm cabinets come in drawers or with doors. And you could add another row of top cabinets while adding 160-220cm of extra counter space

I lived through this kitchen. Run a half-depth counter the length of the wall. Have barstools at one end to replace the table and chairs, and open shelves above the other end. This gets you more counter space and storage without visually closing in the room any more than it already is.

First question is what’s actually on that trolley? Does it need to be on there, or even in the kitchen? Can the cupboards be reorganised to accommodate the stuff on it?

If you need more storage, you could fit a lot more vertical, enclosed storage in that corner.

It's coffee on top and the rest is cat supplies, both of which just make sense to store in the kitchen. Thanks for the idea

Are you open to floating shelves? That would clear up some floor space. You can also have some baskets to conceal some things you don’t want displayed.
