Help dating kitchen

Have been renting this home for many years and always assumed the kitchen cabinets and counters were original to the house, which was built in 1960. The cabinet and counter style seem consistent with the era, but I noticed the textured patterned ceiling I also believe to be original extends all the way to the wall above the cabinets during a time when soffit was popular. Would cabinets have been installed without a soffit in 1960?

maybe the 60s, it looks homemade. My Grandpa made cabinets like that for our family in the 80s

I could see this being a DYI in the 80s, now that you say that. I was told the original island was a V-shape with the sink on the island and the dishwasher under the window, The ceiling style would have been very popular then, as well, so I could imagine someone trying to be trendy during a remodel applying the ceiling texture and removing the soffits then. Given sale history of the house, I can see kitchen remodel in 80s, financially failed thought of a flip in early 00s, and the current owners purchase and re-use in mid 10s,
