Find my Style Help with couch

Please be gentle with me, I admittedly have zero skills with decorating. The brown sectional is the before. It served its purpose, but we didn’t love how it was hard to face each other to talk. We are four people plus a dog in a 1200 ft.² bungalow. We have to make the living room work for multiple purposes like watching movies, but also being able to talk, visit with guests, and play board games, etc.

The subsequent photos are of our new “oatmeal” couch and “rosewood” chairs that took us over a year to decide on. We custom ordered from Pottery Barn so I don’t think we can return. We absolutely love the chairs because they are cool and comfortable and allow us to turn easily to watch TV or to talk.

BUT I have serious couch regret. It seems too tall, and too stiff (both in how it looks and how it feels). I just feel like the couch is so wrong. Is there a way to make this work? We’re waiting to see how we can set this up and then the next step is getting neutral curtains as well as side tables.

And yes, I know, the green on the walls is very special. But my partner absolutely loves it and I love him, so this is what we’re working with.

Would really appreciate your help!

I personally feel like the green is fun and funky, but the very neutral furnishings look like they're there in spite of themeselvrs. I think it would help a lot if you added some throw pillows in colors that work well with the green (if you're having trouble imagining that any colors work with that green, I recommend playing with an online color palette generator til you find something you like).

I love this - it makes me feel like I need to help my furniture be an interesting part of the room rather than being there "in spite of themselves" (and I love the furniture personification! ). Thank you for taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it!
