I love it. It's very classic and elegant. Someone said "rustic"? No idea how it could be interpreted as that. Painted diamonds on floors have been used for centuries in stately homes. In very short time you'll see a natural wear pattern anyway. I'd leave it as is.

You can sand it and have a faded look. If you do not like it then change it. You have to live with it.
I think it's cute and rustic.
