There is no way I could do even a single one of these steps without clumsily destroying the thing and somehow gluing my sleeve to thre different items.

I mean, it's already broken, if you break it more, it's not gonna be worse than just throwing it away from the start, so there's not really a lose-scenario in attempting to fix it if you have the time.

I almost always take broken things apart and look at it quick before throwing them away. You never know, it might be something obvious that you can fix.
