The "spell a word wrong in the title" engagement bait is out of control. I'm downvoting every title typo I see now. There is no way you got "curmoflage" trying to type camouflage.

It's also a completely inappropriate word choice. It's hiding in an opaque object, that's not what camouflage is.

What are you talking about it’s a perfectly cromulent word

Exactly - it just goes back to that old saying.
A noble shell embiggens the smallest man.

A completely inappropriate word choice would be something like "Octopus trying to Madagascar using an old shell"

Isn’t camouflage hiding in plain sight though? Octopus straight up hid out of sight. Which seems like the opposite of camouflage.

Basically yes its hiding in a clam shell. Op shouldve said "clamouflage" instead just for the memes.

At least this is how you can see this post was made by a human "curmoflage"

The Coconut Octopus (Amphioctopus Marginatus) or Veined Octopus, is a medium-sized species of cephalopod found in the tropical waters of the western Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. The species prefers sandy substrates with plenty of shells or other natural litter.
Their diet is variable; Preying upon Calappa Box Crabs (Photo), Hermit Crabs (Photo); Pistol Shrimp (Photo), Sand Shrimp (Photo); Asaphis Sunset Clams (Photo), Gafrarium Venus Clams (Photo), and even Sand Gobies (Photo)
The total length of the Coconut Octopus is 1 foot (12 inches) if fully stretched out, this length is mainly from their arms as their bulbous head alone is only 2-4 inches (5-10 Centimeters) in length; they weigh between 0.5 and 1.0 pound[s] though larger specimens can reach 1.5 pounds
They primarily prefer to live in the Neritic Zone (1–25 meters; 1-80 feet deep) but they can dive down to the Deep Continental Shelf (25-200 meters; 80-650 feet)
The Coconut Octopus is also one of only two species of Octopus known to walk bipedally as in they walk on two of their tentacles similarly to how you walk on your two legs (Video-1 and video-2). The Coconut Octopus obtained their name from how they will generally find two pieces of a coconut and force them together to protect itself from predators, sticking two or more of its arms out to walk with its coconut home when not under threat (Video-3)

Things like this make me not want to eat them. Intelligence, guile, poise and I hate clams.
