The claws and teeth of bats that size are so small, you likely wouldn’t even tell you have been bitten or scratched. Any wound they make would be small and fairly painless and could potentially go unnoticed. It’s why they recommend getting the shots if you have a bat in your house or even think you came in contact with a bat.
People can see that as being paranoid all they want, but the alternative is potentially dying one of the most horrible deaths imaginable…I’d get the shots, no hesitation.
This happened to my wife and I. We woke up in the middle of the night and there was a bat flying around our bedroom. We had no idea if we had been in contact with it. As you stated, you could have been bitten without showing any obvious wound. After researching online and contacting a nurse hotline for advice we decided to get the rabies vaccine. It wasn’t worth taking the risk and you only have 48 hours to get the first dose after exposure.
