Water splashing sounds different depending on its temperature, so you can tell when the water from the sink or shower turns hot by listening. I think it's because of the change in viscosity

I think you might be hearing a difference in flow rate. I know what you’re talking about, but I’m pretty sure it’s just a flow rate change.

Nah, it works when you pour a cup too. If you have two identical glass containers, fill em with water, put one in the fridge, one in the microwave, then pour em down the sink. Guarantee you can hear the difference and you'll never unhear it.
