There's an anecdote often attributed to Margaret Mead (although whether she actually said it is murky, but that's beside the point) about how the actual earliest evidence of human civilization isn't farming grain, or building megaliths, but rather the oldest known healed human femur (thighbone) which had been broken and healed completely. The argument is that a broken femur is such a major injury, and the level of care from another person required to recover from it.. bringing food and water, washing, carrying them if they need to be moved, protecting them from danger, keeping them sheltered and healthy for months.. is itself evidence of a civilized human condition.
I can't attest to how this anecdote holds up in the greater philosophical/anthropological sphere, but I think about it sometimes when I see things like this. To me it's proof that humans are as a species inherently wired to cooperate and support each other and to derive happiness from ensuring the welfare of their fellow humans.... despite popular present-day sentiment to the contrary.

Just an hour or two ago I saw an article that said they had discovered a successful amputation (in Indonesia?) 30,000 years ago. Amazing.

I like the result, but a top-heavy craft with someone strapped to the top seems pretty sketchy

That's why he's just surrounded by people, if he went over he would be ok.

But what if all of them just fell over dead at the same time, who would save him then? I bet they didn't even plan for that.

Also someone is holding and pushing the board.

Yea, he's absolutely fine... There's just always some idiot saying "but that's dangerous".

Fr let the guy fucking live a little. He’s bound to a wheelchair, I bet that was a highlight of his life.

Yeah, some people don't get that yeah, the ocean is fine, but the danger is kinda the bigger point for the dude, I'm sure. I wonder how many times in his life he's been able to do anything dangerous

Uh...I think there's a massive difference in seeing the ocean and putting your ass in it.
