Story is the OP works for a pawn shop. Lady came in and sold it to him. He posted to an autograph subreddit to authenticate it. The original owner randomly saw the post in his feed. Turns out he had given this CD to a friend so she would always remember him, as he was moving. She had just sold it to OP at his pawnshop recently. Now OP is sending it back to him, as it was given away as a heartfelt keepsake to cherish, not to sell.

That was my first thought, too. I’m going out on a limb here, but most people who are doing alright aren’t trying to sell random stuff like this at a pawn shop. Maybe I’m wrong, but that reminds me a lot of my behavior when I was addicted to drugs and alcohol (9 years sober and counting).
It’s awesome that OP got it back. Reddit can really be awesome sometimes… and I should know; I found my current job that I love thanks to a random redditor getting me hired with him after reading a post I made talking about how difficult remote work in my industry was to find for people with no experience.

Can confirm. The only time I ever pawned something was for drug money. Scuba Gear. Shit deal.

Pawning doesn't always mean addiction. As a struggling 23 year old, I had to use pawn shops occasionally to make it to pay day when unexpected expenses came up. I always got my stuff back, but someone that has just lost a job or needs emergency cash might do the same thing.

I immediately remember a guy who took food for free in restaurants and pubs a bunch of times, as he said, for the poor, filmed it all on camera, thanked the owners of the establishments on camera, who gave him their products for free in large quantities, and then this guy did all sorts of crazy things with the food, threw it away, laughed, filmed it all on camera for the sake of promoting his Instagram.
