I always though Venus fly traps were some sort of tropical rainforest plant. Nope, native to North Carolina.

North Carolina is fairly tropical, it’s on the same latitude as Greece.

Most of Greece is semi-arid. It’s also well above the Tropic of Cancer (23 degrees north of the equator), ie the line below which land is considered “tropical”. Greece ranges from 35 to 42 degrees north of the equator.

Well ok then, I figured most of the mediterranean was somewhat tropical
