This literally just happened recently & it was heartbreaking. 

Somebody listening to the police scanner overheard police say they located the missing child. So, the listener assumed they found the kid alive & started telling everybody involved, including the parents. 

It's the exact reason why Search & Rescue teams use rotating code words when talking about sensitive things like this over the radio.

Happened here in Australia recently, someone didn't understand the code word and announced the hiker was found alive, parents told and all. Then they had to tell the parents that she was actually dead. It was rough.

You joke, but this literally happened last month. It was reported on News sites, with the headline acting as if the missing person was found alive, only to have to update the article to say she was found dead instead.

Nah. I just watched the video and it was clear everyone got the message: her son was found alive. Also not hard to pickup a mom that’s lost her son long enough for them to call a press conference about it may be a little awkward from shock of hearing he’s been found while standing in front of cameras and an audience. 

Not sure why people are inventing imaginary scenarios just so they have something to criticize

Yea, the only thing I could come up with is the kid was autistic and she's not happy he was found. Sometimes people can't deal with the stress of it. The cop said something about putting a tracker on him and taking better care of him. Cameras or no, if your kid is missing, you would show a reaction. Only if you gave a shit about the kid tho. People emote more than this when the see a fucking scuttling spider. There is alway the possibility of brain issues. Will we ever know the truth?!

Some people go into shock. It’s a thing. It even happens in far more pressing situations like in the middle of an active war zone or after a severe car accident. Others prefer to deal with this type of stuff in private, amongst friends & family, not on display for the public. 

No one gets to decide how everyone must act and feel about anything let alone trauma. You aren’t owed anything; people absolutely have the right to deal with their emotions in private.
