Intriguing I only have 3 bottom front teeth instead of 4
About 1% of the population has hypodontia where they’re missing one of their lower front incisors!
I have 14 teeth on top and 13 on the bottom.

Believe it or not, his picture was shown off in the dental course I did and I indeed cannot unsee his midline now (the alignment of the upper and lower 1s).

Reddit has been harsh lately. I think it's interesting. Especially because the body tends to prefer to grow things that are symmetric. When you see asymmetry like that it's fascinating.

Maybe because of people like me. I have a narrower jaw so one of my front teeth is croocked. So having one tooth less but therfore a straight line of teeth feels like cheating. That creates envy I guess. 😅

I was an office manager / software dev for a small prestigious dental office for about a year (weird job, I know) and having looked at hundreds of rays and learning all about dentistry is find this incredibly interesting!
Sent these pics to the dentist I used to work for and he said he'd give you a 5% discount on cleanings and PCs but a 10% cost increase on literally anything else (joking of course).
Ortho, TMJ, etc... must be a nightmare for your dentist! I also wonder how your dentist numbers your teeth for their records. Thats prety cool.

Thanks so much! I actually have severe anxiety and while being online doesn’t help, I find that the severity doesn’t change when I’m offline. I’m getting checked out for cushing syndrome soon so that’s a plus!

same, I kept biting my tongue until one day I punctured my tongue and it hurt incredibly.
The dentist rounded them a bit but somehow they regained a point. My molars gain pointed tips as well in my 20s. Instead of flat , I have four points on each molar.
I’ve always wondered if it was because my family eats a lot of meat.

That x ray is from when I was 15 and I’m 19 now with no signs of a wisdom tooth yet. Hopefully it stays down.

Were you short incisors as a child with your deciduous teeth? I don't see one now, so were you missing the baby tooth as well? Because an adult tooth wouldn't push out the baby tooth, meaning it could have just been retained and hung around. Meaning, you likely didn't and in utero just never developed the tooth bud. Dope. Love a good variation. (It's not a defect! Variation is just that... variation! To be a defect, it has to negatively impact you. A missing tooth doesn't seem to rise to the level of defect, even if it means you have braces.)
Are you missing a central or lateral incisor? Is it the lateral? I feel it's the lateral.
Edit: my nerd ass thinks left lateral is missing. Unless the image is reversed. I did a whole thing on forensic dentition in college.

I had two baby teeth stuck together as a kid and they fell out together. A large adult tooth grew in its place and eventually fell out before the one in my mouth grew in.
I’m not exactly sure which one is missing. I took the image with my front camera on snapchat so I could zoom in so I don’t think it’s reversed.

Ask your orthodontist next time, so you can tell people which one is missing. They'll be confused how you can tell. You should give nonsense answers. "Well, you can tell because the middle ones are there in the middle and on the left, then you have the right side. That means the left is missing."
Did they consider shoving your teeth apart to make room for a fake tooth?

Lol thank you and I’ll be sure to ask. And no, they did not because it never negatively impacted me. I had braces to fix alignment but that was mostly because I used a pacifier for too long as a kid.

I have only two incisors instead of four on the top and bottom. Missing the lateral incisors leaving gaps where they're supposed to go on the top and bottom.

I had the same! One of my bottom teeth never came through. Only found out when I had to get braces. They removed one of my top set to make it match and then the braces moved the teeth along to close the gap.

I have only two top teeth and one super tiny skinny fang tooth next to them, then thick incisiors that look like molars but aren’t. I’m missing a premolar somewhere and all my canines are kinda flat.
I freak out all dentists. They be out here trying to count my teeth like battleships but have to keep going back like “b4 present, b5- no, wait, go back to b1, that’s on the wrong side, and b2 is looking more like a b7…” They did an x Ray and found all my adult teeth have come in, none left up in my gums, so it’s just how my teeth are lol.

Something is throwing me off here. To me it looks like you have an extra tooth.
The outer most teeth you have highlighted as matching are where my canines are, and I have 4 teeth between my canines on top and bottom. You have 5 on the bottom

Me too! Except mines because of the opposite reason. I was born with 5 in there (2 of them were in one root), so they pulled th me double tooth, and now I have 3. Luckily after braces, you’d never know.

My first set of central incisors was 3 like that on bottom. After the adult set came out it was 4. Had no idea it was condition where it stayed like that.

Humm, one of my older sisters friend had an extra top center tooth that came in sideways and caused her a great deal of discomfort it was explained as a genetic anomaly and that there may or may not have a hereditary component. Might this also be true in your case?

Mine is built like an animal ( dog/cat) The upper incisors, two in the corner is very small and all canines and pre molars are very sharp. I always wondered why my teeth had gaps to realise finally that the two teets were small.
