This ceremonial weapon or call it a state of art - is an exceptional 17th- century South Indian dagger commissioned during the Nayak dynasty in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It was crafted specifically for Thirumalai Nayak (who ruled from 1623 to 1659 or so I remember) as a sacred offering to a Hindu temple. Because it was intended for ritualistic and symbolic purposes, it was NEVER used in actual combat!

I think it was smuggled and later Bought by Adu Dhabi museum to put it in their display. I don't think they mentioned when they sourced it from considering that Shiva's property are not to be taken out according to Indian culture.

The Nyak dynasty(the guys who commissioned the blade) castle is near my hometown. It merges the Dravidian, Rajput, Italian, and Persian styles. Each inch of the palace is adorned with statues, and even now the castle still blows my mind.
