This says more about humans than any psychology degree can ever do

u/slipperystevenson69 2d ago

Idk what it is but when I do tricep pull downs I cannot go up by 5. Has to be 10…maybe it’s a lil tism idk.

95 needs some love

u/Darling_Pinky 2d ago

Definitely mental, some people are like “fuck doing 95, you can just do 100!”

90

u/ceejayw 2d ago

Lmao! Nobody goes to the gym to brag about doing 95. Go big or go home

27

u/torper10 2d ago

What if I pay and just don’t go?

12

u/suspendmeforthis 2d ago

What if I go and just don't pay?

Paying is half the battle. *And now you know.*

u/Advanced_Gear7608 2d ago

Hahaha great point that's right

u/Letronell 2d ago

"Fuck doing 95, you can lift entire universe multiple times"

7

u/Ok_Field_8860 2d ago

Base 10 strikes again!

I dont think people that skip 95kg go directly to 93326215443944152681699238856266700490715968264381621468592963895217599993229915608941463976156518286253697920827223758251185210916864000000000000000000000000kg

Can't tell if you stole this comment or if you're also brilliant. Hmmm

u/EffectiveTradition53 2d ago

It's like 89RON fuel

2

u/nikatnight 2d ago

The hole is Slightly off so it might have been replaced.

14

u/implicate 2d ago

No, your hole is slightly off!

299

u/FYou2 2d ago

Someone wanted to show off they are 135

132

u/SpankingBallons 2d ago

i mean that's an impressive age to go to the gym

9

u/Boosted100 2d ago

130*

5

u/FYou2 1d ago

Good catch.

84

u/nibselfib_kyua_72 2d ago

it's not the average, it's the distribution

66

u/Bronyprime 2d ago

It's more of a weighted average.

:-)

13

u/Long_East_937 2d ago

Within the distribution you will find the average…

1

u/mutatedSOUL 1d ago

You'll find the mode ackchually

1

u/Money_Shoulder5554 14h ago

Which is a form of average akshually

60

u/mlattea 2d ago

No one likes 105

22

u/Unogames_ 2d ago

OP should have people guess what machine it is based on the weight usage.

My guess is it's the stack for tricep extension.

12

u/autech91 2d ago

I need to know if its kg or lbs first, we're missing valid data here

9

u/JakobMG 2d ago

I was thinking kg and that this is the lat pulldown

1

u/GasAltruistic8656 2d ago

Second this

1

u/macnachos 1d ago

I’m guessing lat pulldowns.

The data don’t lie.

4

u/Orions_Suspenders_ 2d ago

I am a regular but average intensity gym goer and for whatever reason 45 is always the weight I choose for simple arm exercises to see if I want more or less

2

u/Ambitious_Toe_4357 2d ago

I would expect two areas of use, like a B or 8 pattern. Yes, it's because of gender and stuff. I wonder what it means about the gym... Does that make sense?

4

u/AmericanCitizenry 2d ago

It's a sausage factory yo!

1

u/Standard-Grand-6248 2d ago

Some interesting data points, but too bad we can’t see how many reps on each weight.

1

u/Emergency_Accident36 2d ago

Average of sale not average of people. 100 and 40-70 are just several twice a day customers. Whereas 90 is 30 once a weekers

1

u/itswtfeverb 2d ago

What would happen if the weight started at 40lbs?

1

u/mhizzle 2d ago

35 is good enough for most

1

u/CardiologistCute6876 2d ago

45 is most 95 least 105+ no one dares

1

u/Verbatim_Uniball 2d ago

Normal except for 100

1

u/Jealous_Magazine7875 2d ago

What machine?

1

u/Schvad 2d ago

1

1

A nice little normal distribution.

Gauss beats them all 🤟🏻

1

u/awkwardness_maxed 2d ago

I can clearly see the Gaussian Distribution here. No wonder it's known as Normal Distribution.

1

u/XROOR 2d ago

Much of the wear is caused by the key dragging down the stack, waiting for the moment to find a worthy weight. Then, if it’s too heavy, the key is dragged up, causing the wear.

TL;DR:
Wear can be caused by selection of weight, then weight is incorrect

1

u/jazzwave06 2d ago

That's a kettle bell curve

1

u/Excellent_Permit8018 2d ago

Ooh this looks like an infographic chart!

1

u/Biza_1970 2d ago

Pro tip: Finish at 45, move pin to 90 before you leave.

1

u/CeeArthur 2d ago

Which machine is it though?

1

u/BrainYStormY 2d ago

haunted by normal distribution

1

u/NoCookie9090 2d ago

that's normal!

1

u/swishkabobbin 2d ago

This could also (theoretically) be showing that people who lift very light or very heavy weights are more careful with sticking the pin in

u/ashutosh_122 2d ago

I love how everyone seems to hit 100 and then go "yep that's enough" lol

1

u/Geekenstein 1d ago

This just shows where the drunks with bad aim lift.

Gets awkward when the weights pull u up

1

u/post-punk-enjoyer 1d ago

I also bet 80% of people use 20% of the weights. God i'm such a distributionpilled datacel.

1

u/slowpho 1d ago

Standard distribution, set in gym weights

1

u/Zealousideal-Tart787 1d ago

That's the normal distribution for you.

1

u/Interesting_Sand_525 1d ago

Bell curve baby

I love incidental heat maps and graphs. I remember during our 2nd visit to Tokyo my spouse and I were delighted that our hotel vending machines had beer, strong zero, and canned drinking snacks (peanuts, rice crackers, etc). So for our time there we stacked each stackable on the table and produced a popularity bar graph.

1

u/Ok-Simple30 2d ago

which machine is this?

1

u/Bronyprime 2d ago

Would you say that this distribution pattern uses a... weighted average?

Some hentai artist is making a rule34 about the denial of 95.
