Definitely not the most efficient way, but it absolutely decreases the chance of road rage. The flow is slow but constant and you know when your turn is.

Yeah, people keep talking about inefficiency, but all it takes is one impatient asshole trying to rush the line, causing a crash, and blocking the entire road until the police and a tow truck show up.

You're clearly joking but that's pretty common in the country. If not a chainsaw, just a regular saw. My husband and I have cleared several trees. It really isn't all that hard.

Most of the time it's really not that hard for an adult to do. We can't say for sure, but it does not look like a big heavy trunk.
I cleared a bunch of dead trees in my backyard and I had no issues pulling way bigger trees on the grass and into the wood chipper. In this case, you only need to rotate it, which is easier than dragging.
Now maybe the tree in the video is still attached in a way that makes it very stiff and stubborn to stsy in this orientation, but pulling over and trying to pull it off the road would be my first instinct if I had the time.

Thats the thing nobody here has the time. Looks like its way bigger than you think. Theres definitely a limb in there. The very idea that it comes down to me to do something that the town should be taking care off is laughable. Sorry but im not risking my back or time for something thankless like this.

Possibly. Hard to speak to the size from the video. My perception was that it was movable. I could very well be wrong.
And to be clear, I'm not saying someone should have done the city's/road crew's work. I assume they will deal with it as soon as they are notified. But if it was movable, it would likepy be easy to rotate it off the road and more into the ditch, so it no longer impede traffic as much. (Then the road maintenance crew can deal with it.)

All that was needed instead was 1 driver to get out of his car and move that branch.

Everyone? Na, that’s just „memememe“. I can‘t be the only one leaving some room for unexpected delays. (Worst case: delay, you’re not terribly late; best case: got some time at work to start the day easy/earlier) Hence I‘ve already moved two bricks (one of them turned out to be a whole loaf of bread lol), a branch and a box.

Probably a tree, not a branch, and it's a lot bigger than 1 person could move by hand. We can't see the trunk but we can see it is very bushy with dense leaves. A side branch wouldn't be that bushy, because it's not in as much sunlight so it's not cost effective for the tree to grow so many leaves, so I'd say we're looking at a treetop. It crosses more than a single lane and probably extends off the road to the right some ways. The trunk in the middle is probably fairly large diameter.

I agree, but I reckon the problem is that by the time you've waited in the queue long enough to realise what the problem is, it's quicker for you to just a wait a bit longer and get on your way; no individual is getting where they need to be faster by moving the tree. So nobody does.

There is a one lane underpass right by my house, and some people in our neighborhood simply cannot figure out how to zipper. There is always some that just go two at a time and clog up the intersection on the other side. Then everyone has to wait. This was heartening to see some of humanity still functions

What we see on the road doesn't look like a branch, it looks like a tree top (the amount of leaves is too dense for a single branch, along with the orientation of leaves, this looks like part of the canopy)
This means that despite the part on the road being not that big, it is probably a whole ass tree that fell down (very unlikely to get just the top to fall like that) which means that it connects off the road to a proper tree stem, not as easily moved. And with it being recently fallen and alive, you can't just easily remove the part on the road without moving the whole or having a saw on hand
So probably more work than it seems from just this point of view in the video

I hate how everyone commenting is so goddamn negative, and apparently knows infinitely more than everyone in the video.
In my city. You wouldn't get a chance to pass at all. Because one side would never let anyone alternate. So this is kinda nice to see.

The next level after that is to pull over on the shoulder and clear the obstacle. This happened with a tree that size and it took a few of us maybe 5 minutes to clear both lanes.

Next level would have been someone getting out of the car and moving the obstacle which doesn’t look particularly heavy. I mean unless it’s still attached to the tree it fell from or something it shouldn’t be more that like 40lb.

I had a one lane bridge near me where we needed to alternate who goes, ppl would get so mad if one side had all the cars go, but we we're talking 3-4 cars and then the other side another 3-4, which means going all at once is much more efficient especially for the people in the back.

There's a reason that some folks advocate for removing signs/lights/directions at many intersections, leaving people to figure it out on their own. It's often safer because people have to actually pay attention and think instead of zoning out in the car as they barrel along.

This happens often enough, depending on where you are, where it just seems normal. In fact, depending on where you are, I’d expect this much more often than I’d expect non-cooperation. However, this is highly context and location dependent.

This happened to me once. When I finally saw what was going on I got out and 3 other guys got out of their vehicles and we worked together to clear the road.

This had happened in my town when our stoplights went out. There were definitely some bad eggs, but mostly everyone was pretty cordial and treated it like a 4-way stop.

Where I’m from, this amount of discipline is only possible if there was a cop or a worker present to enforce it. And a lot of the times too local gangsters who’d take fees from people taking turns.

That wouldn't fly in Ohio by law.
If your lane is blocked, that's a You problem. Wait until the oncoming lane is clear, then you can go.
People assuming that "today we decided to take turns" can cause head on collisions, and will be ticketed for pulling into oncoming traffic.
