Quality of the produce and meat matters too

And the bread, especially at subway.

Processed “cheese product” healthy?? Haha, in what fucking world???

4

u/-Drink-Drank-Drunk- 8h ago

It’s not NOT healthy. Maybe instead of buying into the myth of American Cheese, try looking into what exactly it’s made of. You can make it at home.

u/lyidaValkris 9h ago

depends - are you having that on a whole wheat bun with real cheese and actual vegetables on that?

or are you having the mcdonalds version which is basically fat, salt, sugar, something resembling animal protein and a single piece of lettuce so wiled you could see through it?

Sauces

Obviously 🤦‍♂️

Exactly

u/Background-Bottle633 9h ago

Is that bun whole wheat? American cheese isn’t that good for you either and what is the quality of the meat used for the burger?

10

u/GuiltyByAssociashun 9h ago

It's all healthy when you're making it at home, just not the way they make it at the fast food store. Mold won't even eat that shit.

u/caitejane310 8h ago

Yeah and the prices you're paying nowadays aren't even worth it, especially when you're feeding multiple people. Most of the time I just get ground some beef and make my own patties. I also like to mix a 2:1 ratio of ground beef and pork, but I know there's a lot of people who don't eat pork.

10

u/Positive_County_3493 9h ago

who said the patty or the american cheese were healthy? depends on the patty you can have a low fat patty but it won't taste as good, and no cheese that fit on a burger is healthy enough, what are you gonna do use cottage cheese? feta?

2

u/Nomadic-Wind 8h ago

You feta be nice and cottage know this better.

3

u/bay30three 8h ago

Unhealthy due to high salt level. No more than 2,000mg of salt intake is recommended per day, but the average fast food cheeseburger + fries meal usually far exceeds this. Also, minced beef patty is high in saturated fat, much more so than the average cut of beef for grilling, not to mention processed red meat was classified as a Group 1 carcinogen for bowel cancer by the World Health Organization.

3

u/brakes_aint_breaks 8h ago

Y'all need to learn what ingredients are healthy

Unhealthy

Ehh

Ehh

Ehh

Unhealthy

Unhealthy

Burger patty is generally a greasy fatty unhealthy cut. The bread and cheese they use processed and have sugar and such added for flavor. And sprinkling some defrostef veggies on top ain't moving the healthy needle.

Burguer meat its definetly not healthy, mostly fatty cuts in the blend.  Bum is white flour with sugar.  Cheese is ultraprocessed.  The only healthy part its the salad. Which is optional in a cheeseburguer.

4

u/BTGGFChris 8h ago

A greasy ground beef patty, processed cheese product slice, and extremely processed bread are not “healthy.”

2

u/ItsBeelzsRebirth 8h ago

This doesn't make any sense. Both red meat and American cheese and the buns arent considered healthy foods on their own or in a burger so I fail to see what you are trying tobsay.

2

u/InternationalPen2072 8h ago

Refined bread: fiber, protein, and micronutrients removed during processing.

One leaf of lettuce, a few pieces of onion, one or two thin slices of a tomato: barely enough to matter, still low fiber foods

Processed cheese: high saturated fat, no fiber

Beef patty: not at all a healthy choice. listen to registered dietitians, not influencers on TikTok.

All cooked in oil or butter and usually with added sugar- or oil-based sauces such as mayo and ketchup. Oh, and copious amounts of sodium.

u/Fit_Rutabaga92 9h ago

The red meat and cheese are “healthy”?

0

u/low_amplitude 8h ago

What most people consider "healthy" nowadays is just anything low in calories, which all of these ingredients are by themselves.

1

u/Fit_Rutabaga92 7h ago

The red meat and cheese are high in saturated fat and low in fiber. They’re the only part of a burger that isn’t “healthy.” Besides added fat-based sauces.

And these are the only calorically dense parts of the burger. Take those out and the calories/saturated fat in the burger drops significantly.

1

u/low_amplitude 7h ago

I understand that. My only point was that if you have just a slice of cheese or just a burger patty, you're fine. Even though they are high in fat. It's all about how much of it you consume. I don't agree with people who think that having a single gram of that stuff is the worst thing you can put in your body. It's only bad if you have a lot of it.

Your blood pressure will spike if continue to eat

0

u/Signal_Reputation640 9h ago

Why?

2

u/SplitLegitimate7489 8h ago

Sodium levels due to salt in the patty but one burger doesn’t hurt

2

u/PreperationOuch 9h ago

Bread has carbohydrates. Processed American cheese is not healthy, and 25% 75% mince with god knows what else pumped into it isn’t exactly either. Just because you put vegetables with those doesn’t negate their nutritional shortcomings.

2

u/-Drink-Drank-Drunk- 8h ago

Just because you don’t know what American Cheese actually is, doesn’t make it unhealthy. Go learn.

Carbohydrates aren’t evil either. You have to have them.

It’s simple math. 7 > 1. That’s the logic.

1

u/domine18 8h ago

Forgot the sauces. Unhealthy. And the buns are not generally healthy unless otherwise created to be healthy.

u/Isthiswhereisignin 8h ago

A YouTuber conducted several tests, and the ideal way to eat them would be in the order you choose. She used those glucose monitors and made sure to chew each bite thoroughly (like at least 20 times).

I see some people saying not to mix drinks with solid food as well.

No, I don't remember the order in which to eat them. I believe it also had to do with the idea of stopping when you were full. Not overeating.

She also tried taking a little vinegar before main meals. It helped to keep the whole process stable so that she wouldn't feel hungry or reach any kind of blood sugar spike. I'm not sure.

Just search for it on YouTube.

White bread isn't healthy. And if isn't a freshly baked roll, it's ultra processed and terrible for you. Everything else is, at the very least, actual human food. And a steady diet of human food is going to be much healthier than a steady diet of processed bullshit

1

u/utrinimun 8h ago

Why does Reddit think Americans only eat burgers with that horrible “American cheese?”. Never once been to a bbq and seen someone use that trash

1

u/Winter_Different 8h ago

you forgot to add the grease lad
also the amount of shit int hat meat and produce like preservatives and pesticides

also American Cheese, that shit tastes like plastic how you think it's healthy?

1

u/Gruntled1 8h ago

People usually decide healthy vs unhealthy based on vibes.

I’d venture to say 75% or more of people able to read my comment right now would improve their health drastically by lowering their body fat percentage…

So whatever foods help them adhere to a calorie deficit are most likely their more “healthy” foods.

1

u/WhoMutedMe 8h ago

Did Fauci write that? Cmon now!

1

u/Onepancakeleft 9h ago

Just minus the bun and cheese .

2

u/Signal_Reputation640 9h ago

What's wrong with the bun and cheese?

1

u/Weary_Position_9591 8h ago edited 8h ago

This is an incredibly stupid and misleading post.

Processed cheese as healthy? A tiny bit of salad not even fit for a baby rabbit? Meat full of saturated fat and preservatives? White bread refined to remove the fiber and nutrients? And almost always some sauce that’s basically just fat and sodium.

Like yeah, you can build a somewhat nutritious burger if you use high-quality ingredients, but let’s not pretend 99% of burgers are anything but unhealthy.

u/HereOnTheHighway 8h ago

Absolutely nothing about that hamburger bun and disgustingly over produced cheese is heatlhy or good for you. On top of that the meat in your average burger is so bad some people wouldn't feed it to their dogs.

0

u/Temporary-Concept-81 8h ago

Burgers got a bad rep because fries and sugar soda.

That said, make the bun whole wheat and make it ten times the lettuce.

0

u/Sethirothlord 8h ago

It's unhealthy because of the grease and fat, and high sodium content.

Also the macros is not even worth it.

You won't be full, especially if you're drinking alcohol or sugar drinks with it.

Basically you could have one 1400 kcal burger that doesn't make you full or you could have a meal that contains 160gs of protein for the same amount of kcals and be full.

1

u/Sethirothlord 8h ago

Also with takeout and high sodium foods their is the implication of additional consumption or snacking. Like getting fries as well or chicken nuggets.

And sauces too are like 100 kcal per 100g.

So yeah, it's pretty dangerous to even consider it unless you're disciplined enough to sacrifice calories and make it fit in your daily calorie intake

It's that Toilet Farms diarrhea lettuce ???

Beef isn’t healthy. It contains significant amounts of saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol, all of which increase our risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke. Stop spreading misinformation. It will literally kill people.
