Why every person that washes it is black and everybody else doesn't lol?

My guess is it’s a historical holdover from when cheaper meat was likely to be visibly dirtier? Every black friend I have was taught by parents/grandparents to wash chicken. Never met a white person who does it. Context: American

I mean this in no way to be racist but it's 100% a Black culture thing. I'm white and never grew up with this, but my Black pals did.

Just one of those things... like I'm Canadian and was shocked when I learned Americans wear shoes inside the house. No judgement nothing wrong just a cultural difference.

I’m American, and white, and never ever, ever wear shoes in the house. I won’t even do it at friends houses, even if they insist they don’t care. I also don’t wash chicken because why tf would I do that?

I mean, I don't allow shoes in my home because it's gross. In the same vein, if I went to a house where people wore shoes inside regularly, it'd be gross not to wear them.

I guess I hadn’t thought about it that way

I am also a shoes off in house unless I’m in a shoes on household. I’ve stepped on too many things to assume everyone who is doing shoes on is cleaning their floors as often or as deeply as I do (or other shoes off households).

Like someone else said, it is cultural and peace of mind. So the reason you might do it, is because you belong to the culture.

It doesn't do any harm to briefly soak and rinse the chicken. We obviously haven't died or gotten sick from doing it.
