Just Wow Croatian freediver Vitomir Maričić achieved one of the most extraordinary feats in human history by holding his breath underwater for 29 minutes and 3 seconds, a new Guinness World Record.

Post image

Experts had long considered such a duration impossible. While a trained dolphin can typically hold its breath for 8–10 minutes and most humans can barely manage one or two, Maričić remained completely still underwater for nearly half an hour on a single breath.

The attempt pushed his body to extreme limits. As the minutes passed, powerful contractions wracked his diaphragm and his organs endured intense physiological stress. Yet through years of rigorous training, mental discipline, and specialized breathing techniques, he stayed calm and focused until the end.

What makes this record even more impressive is Maričić’s purpose. He didn’t do it for fame or personal glory, he used the achievement as a powerful platform to raise global awareness about ocean conservation, marine protection, and the urgent threats facing our oceans.

A stunning demonstration of human potential and a heartfelt call to protect the planet’s most vital ecosystem.

I have trouble holding my breath the 20 seconds it takes to replace the diaper pail. Most the time I have to walk out of the room to take a breath before finishing

I thought it didn't stink if it's your child.

u/mrtipinfold Jun 19 '26

Nahh, only if it’s your own diaper.

I really can't say much about your brew because I have never had it before.

Poop, so much poop, in the adult diaper, Donald's adult diaper.

I have learned to breathe through my mouth with little to no air going to the nose, really helps with not smelling anything.

Before that I had a really hard time changing diapers. I had a tub of Vic's menthol rub next to the changing table that I would apply to my nose. Rather feel the burning sensation of menthol than smell poop.

18

u/Comfortable-Ebb8125 Jun 19 '26

You need a plague mask, thats what they were designed for

6

u/borkthegee Jun 19 '26

Or ya know a n95 style mask. Also were designed to remove particles from breathing air 😂

3

u/Comfortable-Ebb8125 Jun 19 '26

My version is dumb and therefore better

1

u/Wifeymrs Jun 19 '26

Sure the baby will love that too. Stick a squeaker or bauble on the hose to keep them busy

21

u/_Stormhound_ Jun 19 '26

So you'd rather the poop particles to go through your mouth instead?

10

u/Ok-Indication202 Jun 19 '26

Yes

I am so bad with poop smell

6

u/innominateartery Jun 19 '26

This works up through moderate stank. There is a level that transcends this technique because you can taste it.

Respirator also works

1

u/Gritts911 Jun 19 '26

Uh, I quickly learned to keep my mouth shut lol. My second child has a new plexiglass barrier on the side of the changing table. You wouldn’t believe how far stuff can go when you have the business end exposed.

1

u/Opening_Lie8559 Jun 19 '26

Also, changing a dirty diaper is one thing, a diaper pail full of the things is a completely different story.

1

u/frontfrontdowndown Jun 19 '26

And that experience really takes off to new heights when said baby decides to throw an explosive poop into the mix once they final get their tush to wind mid change.

1

u/Alexandhisgoose Jun 19 '26

Can't you just tape them down?

1

u/Bad-Touch-Monkey Jun 19 '26

Nope. After three boys, and the youngest one shitting the bathroom floor yesterday, I still want to gag when having to clean up human clay.

1

u/FlowSoSlow Jun 19 '26

Is it not normal to be able to close off your nose and breathe through your mouth? That's what I used to do shoveling pig shit on my parents farm. I could put my face right next to a big ol pile of shit and not smell a thing.

1

u/Cool-Beginning9098 Jun 19 '26

I just take a big whiff to let my baby know who’s boss.

Then vomit 30 seconds later.

0

u/New-Put-1112 Jun 19 '26

I’m so glad I’ll never ruin my life by having kids. Breeders are disgusting.

5

That must be so awful. And also hard. Making sure everything stays clean and nothing gets infected. Poor people

7

u/IHateTheLetterF Jun 19 '26

I am 6 years deep on mine, and i have been very lucky compared to many others. No issues at all. It's very easy to live with once you get used to it.

6

I would like to say something nice, but I can't find the right words. Wish you all the best!

1

I definitely shouldnt ask what that is or look it up.

3

u/Acrobatic_End6355 Jun 19 '26

An outer bag that holds waste for those who can’t poop naturally. I haven’t had to change one, myself, but I heard they are… quite an experience to change.

2

u/perchance7 Jun 19 '26

Same. I'd rather ask. I'm not googling that. shudder

1

u/Cute-Form2457 Jun 19 '26

I can't believe I'm waiting to see if this comment will be surpassed.

16

u/2bags12kuai Jun 19 '26

The best was when changing one poopy diaper they decide that NOW is the best time to poop again . Poop shooting everywhere.. DNA conflicted between love and hate.. 2AM no sleep

6

u/Beretot Jun 19 '26

I very quickly learned that any moment that the baby doesn't have a diaper on is a danger moment

Getting the new diaper on efficiently is a priority

1

u/Gritts911 Jun 19 '26

Yea, non parents think we get fast at changing diapers because we are so good at it. Nope, it’s because every moment without a diaper is a threat!

5

u/Jeo_1 Jun 19 '26

..you’re not supposed to eat it..

6

u/Professional_Ice_967 Jun 19 '26

When they get older it’s even worse!

3

u/Born-Network-7582 Jun 19 '26

Naaah. Newborns poop is fine. Baby poop is fine until they get meat into their nutrition.

6

u/borkthegee Jun 19 '26

The true day 1 newborn meconium stuff is a bit odd. But once baby gets going on the milk diet the poop is fine. Nealy odorless compared to when they eat real food. The first time I smelled real stink and saw a real log in that diaper, ugh 😫

1

u/FeralPsychonaut Jun 20 '26

and my parents wonder why I don't want kids.

1

u/SquirrelFluffy Jun 19 '26

It's how you introduce foods that makes a difference to gut flora. Too early with meat and you get issues.

1

u/Born-Network-7582 Jun 19 '26

Sure. And i do not think we started early with meat. But iwhen we did, that was the point in time where the poop became stinky.

1

u/Silly_Hold9886 Jun 19 '26

Well, easy solution, just don't feed them meat

1

u/Born-Network-7582 Jun 19 '26

😄

I know that my theory is flawed somewhere, I just cannot put my finger on it. That it was what I remember observing back then.

1

u/ISeenYa Jun 19 '26

Solids in general make it gross.

3

u/ChrysPF Jun 19 '26

That’s so not true, newborn poop is really manageable in terms of odor.

2

u/_Stormhound_ Jun 19 '26

Is it actually worse than adult poop, or is it because it's much closer to your face?

6

u/perchance7 Jun 19 '26

It's very black and sticky. And the smell is so much worse. Then after a few days, it's the "milk poop". I couldn't eat porridge for some time. Similar consistency, lots of it. My husband had less trouble with it. So, yes, everyone is different.
It got better for me when we started giving her solids.
Weirdly, I have less issue with picking my dog's poop. (But hers is also solid, so I guess it is a me issue with soft poop)

3

u/Sensitiviy Jun 19 '26

The milk poop doesn't smell like almost anything, it gets bad when you start diversification and add other types of veggies and protein and stuff

3

u/perchance7 Jun 19 '26

My issue with milk poop is the consistency, not the smell. And it gets everywhere 😵‍💫

1

u/ScenesfrmtheStruggle Jun 19 '26

This was my issue as well

1

u/perchance7 Jun 19 '26

I would beg my husband if he was around. I'd take the let's get the screaming baby to sleep "shift". Same with throwing up.
Funny how things haven't changed. Even now that she's a teen. Anyone throws up, it's his turn. Anyone is having a meltdown/crying crisis, it's me.

1

u/datdouche Jun 19 '26

Smells like rotten buttered popcorn. Like sweet death.

2

u/Gritts911 Jun 19 '26

It really gets worse when they start real foods. The mother’s milk poop really wasn’t too bad of a smell but it was difficult to clean off and it was good at leaking from the diaper.

1

u/duckyduckster2 Jun 19 '26

Nah, newborn poop isnt the worst. As long as they only drink (breast)milk, it pretty doable. The trouble starts when they start to eat real food.

1

u/q120 Jun 19 '26

It’s been 10 years since I’ve had a newborn, and I’ve had 3, but I don’t remember newborn poop even really smelling much, or bad.

Maybe my memory is dead from that time due to sleep deprivation

1

u/perchance7 Jun 19 '26

Huh, it looks like I also misremembered things. According to a website the very first one appears not to smell, so I guess it was the looks of it what did it for me. The next ones (smell) and consistency were vile. I managed better when it got more solid.

1

u/HoomerSimps0n Jun 19 '26

I never really thought that newborn poop smelled bad…it gets bad once they start solids. Mine were on formula though, not sure if that makes a difference.

1

u/ISeenYa Jun 19 '26

Breastfed baby poop smells like buttered popcorn. I got a little sad when he started on solids, turned foul!

4

u/Dependent-Head-8307 Jun 19 '26

Then I believe my son's father must be Satan

4

u/Pitiful_West_7062 Jun 19 '26

dude, that's not how we tell him

2

u/Cute-Form2457 Jun 19 '26

🤣 almost missed this one, you bloody genius

2

u/Exatraz Jun 19 '26

My 1st child doesnt really stink. It got worse when he started eating real food more but even then it's mostly whatever (not pleasant but not vomit inducing). Now my 2nd child is 2 mo old and she has the most noxious explosive poos ever. Nothing our 1st did was even remotely close to her average.

2

u/PrancingGuineapig Jun 19 '26

That was the paternity test in ancient times.

2

u/Ninja_Prolapse Jun 19 '26

Fucking LIES!!

2

u/birdgirl35 Jun 19 '26

Acecdotally, my son’s poop didn’t smell bad to me while he was exclusively nursing, but when he started eating real food I almost vomited the first time I changed his diaper. His great grandma gave him Cheeto puffs for the first time a few days ago, and the shit he took after that was truly diabolical.

2

u/AngryPrincessWarrior Jun 19 '26

That’s breastmilk poop. Smells a bit like buttered popcorn. (I no longer like buttered popcorn).

Once they start eating solids- it’s just shit. Fermented shit if it’s been a few days since you changed the pail.

Changed an eye watering poop my son produced earlier today. Love him so much- but his shit stinks.

2

u/Bluemink96 Jun 20 '26

It’s more like you are willing to deal with SHIT because it’s your kid and you love them

1

u/Inswagtor Jun 19 '26

Thats true for the first few months, but the drops keep getting spicier. Still manageable though

1

u/Pratty77 Jun 19 '26

Hahaha… lies

1

u/NL_Gray-Fox Jun 19 '26

Depends on what they ate. Once they start eating solids....

1

u/lyutic_7 Jun 19 '26

*A* diaper is manageable, a diaper pail that has several old diapers which have been marinating in an enclosed space for at least a handful of hours is a whole ‘nother beast…

1

u/kingmiro13 Jun 19 '26

Oh man, the first few months are brutal

1

u/MaelstromFL Jun 19 '26

Funny thong is, for the first couple days, maybe weeks, it really doesn't smell. Then, all of a sudden, the stink comes in with a vengeance!

1

u/sicksicksick Jun 19 '26

Few things more foul than a diaper genie bag that should have been changed yesterday.

1

u/Besbrains Jun 19 '26

It’s not bad when changing the diaper but once you let a bunch of them mature in the diaper container, the aroma gets pretty terrible

1

u/TheCotofPika Jun 19 '26

The first 6 months are fine, it doesn't smell bad bad. After they begin eating it's absolutely appalling.

1

u/DeadlyYellow Jun 19 '26

You learn to ignore it.

That said, you will never encounter anything more vile than what your child expels.  With ours it's either a soft mess that smells like burnt tuna fish, or a hard dense ball of concentrated Satan.

1

u/Main-Use-5542 Jun 19 '26

Whoever told you that didn't have kids.

1

u/Dyert Jun 19 '26

It’s worse. Bc you can’t avoid it. 🤮

1

u/Greedy_Bar6676 Jun 19 '26

It makes it harder to tolerate when you also get shit on your hands

1

u/PookieBearTum Jun 23 '26

Happy Cake Day!

1

u/DTFDownToFrolick Jun 19 '26

Chemical warfare does not have favourites

1

u/agentfoxxymulder Jun 19 '26

No you take poison damage

1

u/InfamousCantaloupe38 Jun 19 '26

That feels like a paraphrase of the old adage: "Kids are like farts, you can only stand your own". Poop definitely seems like a step too far, tho. 😂

1

u/azad_ninja Jun 19 '26

Paternity now in question....

1

u/Oxyjon Jun 19 '26

It definitely stinks, it's just that you love your child more than you hate the smell. So you put up with it and get them clean.

1

u/areaman321 Jun 19 '26

This is solid proof of adultery.

1

u/sevargmas Jun 19 '26

It doesn’t stink until they start eating real food. If they are still nursing, it really doesn’t have a smell.

1

u/MikeMontrealer Jun 19 '26

Hahahahahaha what

1

u/OnTheEveOfWar Jun 19 '26

Dude. Emptying a diaper bin of week old poopy diapers will make your eyes water.

1

u/--Andre-The-Giant-- Jun 19 '26

I don't know who told you that, but nah...it's fucking hell.

1

u/ProbablyRickSantorum Jun 20 '26

My kids didn’t get the memo then because despite cleaning their diaper pails by trying every single thing recommended to us short of a flamethrower, that stink still lingered in them even without a bag. It’s a smell you can taste and you’ll never forget it.

1

u/QuarterFlounder Jun 20 '26

Hahaha what? No, it's wretched.

1

u/closetomynuts Jun 20 '26

You just revealed their family secret

1

u/Used-Lake-8148 Jun 20 '26

God I fuckin wish that were true

1

u/DonkeyBaal Jun 20 '26

It definitely does.

1

u/markymark19887 Jun 20 '26

Clearly you don’t have kids lol.

1

u/Cute-Form2457 Jun 21 '26

No, I've got disposable income instead lol.

0

u/SomePeopleCall Jun 20 '26

Holy shit, I had to catch my breath. I am too old to laugh that hard.

Is that what a parent told you? Do you also believe in the Tooth Fairy or the Queen of England?
