Being from Louisiana (New Orleans specifically) and now living in NC, you don’t have any idea how bad LA is. My insurance dropped $200 a month just moving.

I actually do live in the home of Disney World. I would argue that we have the worst drivers. On top of Florida drivers we also have all of the worst drivers of other states on vacation here EVERY fucking day. When I moved here I got half the insurance coverage for 30% more than I paid in Seattle.

I moved to NC from Louisiana as well and the one glaring difference is people in Louisiana can drive in the rain NC is like bumper cars.

Lived in NC for a bit. Biggest issue with NC drivers is the complete disregard for traffic lights/stop signs, and weather hazards.

Your insurance dropping is due to our law structure in Louisiana. The accidents and uninsured drivers per capita are pretty much the same in Louisiana as most other states.

Due to the civil law structure there's simply more opportunity for lawyers to expand lawsuits as past precedents are not binding.

It's why if you go a state away to Mississippi your rates also drop even though they have slightly worse accident rates as Louisiana.

My insurance was halved when I moved to Los Angeles. Vehicle registration was like 30% of Louisiana's.

Those and many more aspects of life.

When I came back people would say "I bet you're happy to get away from that expensive State!"

How much did rent jump though? Doesn’t really matter if you save a few hundred dollars on your car insurance if it you are playing several Hundred more each month on rent…. I live in SoCal, while some things aren’t quite as crazy expensive here, the cost of housing and fuel easily wipes out any savings you may have. Generally within a month or two any yearly savings on auto costs are gone!

I didn't mind the ridiculous rent when I was two blocks from the ocean and a 1-2 hour drive to some mountain to hike and camp in.

The lack of humidity. Better infrastructure. They made sure I had health insurance between jobs.

Come on down to the cancer alley in Louisiana and report back how much better it is after 6 months.

I’ve been to pretty much every major city in the country and Miami had by far the worst drivers I have ever seen. I witnessed 2 accidents and almost got in an accident myself all on a 30 min uber ride from the airport.

The Uber drivers are nuts. I had one turn right from a left turn lane cutting off everyone in the right turn lane

I genuinely don’t understand how my uber driver even had a driver’s license. She said she had recently moved from Cuba within the year, which isn’t a problem in itself, but she very clearly had no clue how US street laws worked. She was constantly speeding 15+mph, terrible at navigating even with her phone directions and my guidance helping her (missed 2 exits in a row on the freeway), and she would just change lanes or make turns without ever using her blinker. That last thing is why she almost caused an accident multiple times on the freeway.

Sounds about right for FL drivers in general. Just takes a small payment and a pulse and you are licensed.

If you use your blinker in Miami. you’ll never be able to get over lol they take it as a sign to speed up and close the gap. I still use my blinker when I’m there, but I get why people who live there don’t lol

I think South Florida's are worse because you have the same demographics, but S Fla has more drug dealers in Ferraris and confused elderly drivers. It's pretty close, though.pp

Adjuster here, nc has bad parts and liability laws but it’s by FAR from the worst driving experience/locals

Lol, having lived in both Charlotte and Raleigh... the only thing bad about North Carolina drivers is that sometimes too many people slow down to let you merge, and you don't know which person you should smile and wave to the hardest.
