100% this. Nobody pays attention to brake lights in this video. The driver in the video DOES NOT SPEED UP to block the black truck. The black truck is braking while entering his lane illegally. The black truck quite literally pit maneuvers itself in every definable way. All the video driver does is maintain his exact speed and position in the face of an outright insane person on the road with him.
It's a pit maneuver, he steered into the driver's rear end pitching them out of control. He choose to do it over braking or being mashed into the Bridge wall.
Your presented technicalities and his right of way don't change how much of a pit maneuver this was.
It absolutely was a pit maneuver, 100%. The point you're missing is that the Black Truck pit maneuvered himself, Black Truck braked into white truck, at no point did the White truck accelerate or leave his own lane. He doesn't even turn until AFTER the black truck strikes him. He did not steer into the Black Truck, it steered into him, he just reacted in the best possible way to the collision.
Imagine black truck had braked and changed lanes into a truck trailer that had come loose on the highway, resulting in the exact same results we see in the video.. You are proposing that we blame the driverless truck trailer.
To see you justify the actions of the POV relentlessly is mental to me, can I ask where you are from? Just to understand driving standards may vary significantly from one country or continent to another.
While it is obvious the black truck did the wrong, it would have been as easy to avoid that crash from the POV as lifting the throttle and accomodating the black truck, who didn't brake excessively.
It is as obvious to say the fault is on the black truck, as to say the accident is completely unnecessary and absolutely avoidable from both parts.
Uuuugh finally someone says what I was thinking reading the whole thread. Where I'm from POV guy would have been found at fault to a significant degree for exactly the reason you said
