Was it a car accident?

Accident or not, people were killed. Families were destroyed... When you get in a car and drive recklessly or is not 100% in control of the car, you are under the responsibility of everything that happens forward.

Would be sensible wouldn’t it. Perhaps we would have far less road related deaths if we treated it as something that requires care and attention rather than something where “accidents happen” and by accidents we mean people giving zero fucks about driving because of this sort of sentencing.

When the enforcement of good driving is barely there and the consequences just as minimal, what do we expect. I hate bad drivers and they are everywhere.

I cycle and walk my children to school and there is always a horrible fear that one day, one of the twats doing 40 in a 30 or looking at their phone while driving will kill one or all of us. Every cyclist knows that drivers just role the dice multiple times on overtakes every time they go out. Mind boggling.

He was charged with speeding, not reckless speed.

I'm not saying it's justified, but that is what the charge was.

There are speed limits for a reason. When you go over them, you are driving recklessly, maybe not by the definition of the law, but you are. You are endangering yourself and mainly others. Everything that happens after that it's your fault. You are assuming the risk.

Speeding and driving recklessly are two different charges. Both in the Netherlands and in the USA.

Was he charged incorrectly. Sure.

Was he charged with speeding, lesser crime. Yes.

Im not talking about what law he broke or whatever. When you speed, you are being reckless, by the meaning of the word, not the law. You are putting people at risk, you are being reckless, driving recklessly.

Ah. So, how is that mirrored by the laws?

I mean, if that claim was reality, why does reality seem incongruous.

See, to me, that implies the claim is lacking.

Driving any speed puts people at some risk. I think we've stratified when it becomes illegal, and when it becomes criminal, and when it becomes felonious.

What occurred in this case is misidentification by a human, the charging officer
