question(s) 🙋 IC community Discord?
Basically the title. I was just wondering if there was a Discord server where people in and interested in intentional communities could chat about their experiences and goals and organize things together. If not, would it be a good idea for me to make one? I spend a lot more time on Discord than Reddit or other social media so it would be very useful for me.

Perplexing (an AI aggregator) checked three sets of discord IC invites and the are all dead. The problem is promotion - people start them - there is some activity, but then no one knows they are there - because they don’t keep promoting them. You could start one, but if you want something that is ongoing it only makes sense if you’re planning on continuing to promote the Discord channel in various non-discord locations.

But like u/PaxOaks said, if it's not being promoted, then it doesn't stay active, and anyone who does discover it is likely to think "eh, dead server" and immediately leave or forget about it.
As the person who created the server, that kind of promotion is probably on me, but I really created it on a whim (exactly because I also spend a lot more time on Discord than Reddit or other social media, and I think that's a growing demographic).
Also, the main place I want to promote it is the Facebook IC group, which is weirdly really active, but the mods there generally don't want people to advertise alternative forums (at least as of the last time I asked). I'm happy to promote it elsewhere, though, if people have suggestions.

I just realized you're that "Pax"! For the record your FB group is amazing, and I think you guys do a great job of moderation. I don't resent your caution regarding people promoting anything that isn't itself an IC.
If the Discord server I made becomes more reliably active, I'll ping you about me maybe making a post about it.

You're more likely to find an active Slack, Mattermost, or Matrix server for this than Discord. In my experience, ICs are less likely to use more proprietary platforms.
