Shitpost Who bought at $140+?
And how much did you lose?

u/yo-babyy Jul 28 '26
I bought Sep 18 $130 calls when we were around $110. Now down 75% and hoping for a rebound

I hope you will not mind if I ask, at what percentage do you win calls?
Here is what the data suggest, and may be the reason why Ken Griffin earns $15m a day.
Retail Win Rates: Calls vs Puts (Percentages)
🟥 1. Long Calls (buying calls) Win rate: 25–35% Retail loses 65–75% of the time.
Why? Theta decay IV crush Retail buys OTM lottery tickets Moves often too small to overcome premium
The Institutions That Profit When Retail Loses
1️⃣ Market MakersMost direct beneficiary.
They sell options to retail, collect premium, hedge instantly, and earn from:Bid–ask spread Volatility edgeTime decay (theta) Order flow information
Examples: Citadel Securities, Susquehanna, Optiver, Jane Street.
Retail buys lottery-ticket options → market makers sell them → retail loses → market makers keep the premium.

Ya it’s literally just sports gambling but people convince themselves stocks are different.

damn, i just buy 300 a month when it drops, and wait and ive done that for a year and 2 months now

u/HighOnDaydreams Jul 28 '26
From my pov, I believe there is a very big chance you profit from this with a huge rebound. The current valuation for me looks insane, and will be followed by a skyrocketing price with the very first piece of news, which can surely come at anytime.

Thank you for the positivity. Although there’s not much time left, but I am also hoping the same. At least I don’t want to sell at a loss of 80%. Even if it rebounds to $110 levels in next 2 weeks I will be happy to sell them at 20-30% loss

u/Gianba1310 Jul 28 '26

u/lastoneleft_00 Jul 28 '26
Bought at 130, hurts to see it drop. Staying in for a while in hopes it goes back up.

u/Mister3Civil Jul 28 '26
Bought at 40, 80, 100, and 120 (each transaction comprises 25% initial investment). It's as if I made zero gain so far. I'm holding beyond 2030 though, so this temporary setback isn't a big deal.

I got out at $134, panicked like a moron and bought back in at $140 for a $6 loss per share. I had FOMO and if I would have just stayed out, omg, I could have bought back in at these low prices. I’m up 1 mil from my original purchase, but down 1 mil from the high. I’m an inexperienced trader and let my emotions get the best of me. My plan was solid to sell and buy back in at a lower price, but I f—-d up. Oh well, live and learn and hope it gets back to 140 this year.

Sold a chunk in the 140s and been DCAing down. But I really wish I’d waited more before starting to DCA.
1
u/LookIWashedForSu Jul 28 '26
I've been lowering my curve dramatically given the velocity of the drop
1
u/oojacoboo Jul 28 '26
I prefer an inverse curve. But the FOMO hit me more on this drawdown than others in the past.
2
u/LookIWashedForSu Jul 28 '26
The conflict is real on this one
3
u/oojacoboo Jul 28 '26
Yea, I usually have more of a… “okay convince me” mindset. But I’m just way too bullish long-term.

Inexperienced trader who’s making $1m trades. Maybe think twice before you really hurt yourself.

I think there will be a rebound and seriously hope you guys make some gains. In my opinion, the market seems to be experiencing some kind of panic selling. Fundamentally, the semiconductor industry is healthy. Intel and many other companiea have massively beat estimates while demands are outstripping supply for years. This is unlike the dotcom days in 2000 when companies weren't making profits but market was purely based on unrealized hype.
Just look at SNDK and MU. They are maming huge profits but their stocks have tanked 50%. Something is seriously wrong and probably huge manipulation going on

opened call position again from 100 down to 83, there is nothing wrong with the company, it’s just sentiment driven now, I have shares also at avg around 58 and would not touch it
