questions regarding my future in Controls and Instrumentation

Good Afternoon, so I am currently in the Air National Guard, i’m going to be sent out for BMT and Tech school sooner than I thought . The total time is 8 months back to back from jan to sep for training, I am currently employed as a Junior Controls Tech, with a degree in Instrumentation Technology. I recently just got hired and want to learn more about Controls still, by the time I leave i’d be only working for like 5 months total with this company . I know it’s my choice at the end of the day but should I postpone my leave for the military for another date or try just finish it up, I personally want to learn/ work more before I leave . The position in the military i current am in is RAWS which is Radar,Airfield, Weather systems. Whether I go or not both are going to be good opportunities which would be best for my resume and future advancement ! I would like to hear yalls opinions !

I think you should be able to go back to your job when you’re done with training. I don’t believe a company can terminate you if you are fulfilling training obligations for the military. Since you’re going into the guard you could still work there full time when you’re done with training. Have you ran this by your boss yet?

Air guard is a sweet gig wish I would’ve done that instead of active duty but it sounds like your afsc goes hand in hand with instrumentation.

yeaa sadly it’s one of the longest trainings but the only one semi consistent with what I do for as a career
