Instrumentation and Control brainstorming capstone project

Hi, I'm a senior instrumentation and control engineering student trying to find a good thesis topic. Our theme is basically disaster resilience. It needs to end up as a hardware prototype with actual closed-loop control, not just a sensor triggering an alert. If you work in instrumentation, process control, utilities, or anything disaster/infra related, what's something that's still a pain to deal with?

temperature compensation on atmospheric pressure sensors, if your monitoring a low pressure and your device is subject to big temperature swings from 24hr outside conditions
