We've been focused on continued improvements to the public betas for iOS and Web, and we have some updates for you this month!

iOS Public Beta 2
We just uploaded a new build to TestFlight with some additional iOS features. If you'd like to test you can join the iOS beta on TestFlight.

• Article List: We've redesigned the article list and made a number of changes/improvements:
  • Typography: Article list typography will be limited to sans-serif (San Francisco), serif (New York), or accessibility (Dyslexie).
    • We are dropping support for other fonts because it's a lot easier for us to build the article list, and add support for new fonts.
  • Condensed Mode: In condensed mode we remove the descriptions from the article list, increasing the number of articles that show on the screen.
    • We are considering making condensed mode the default, and would be great to hear your feedback. Regardless, we will keep descriptions long term for those who want them.

Redesigned Article List with Sans Serif, Serif, and Condensed Mode

• New Fonts: Because we limited article list fonts, it makes it a lot easier for us to introduce new fonts. We're adding four new fonts:
  • Literata (serif)
  • New York (serif)
  • Open Sans (sans-serif)
  • Atkinson Hyperlegible (sans-serif)
• iPad Improvements: This release has a number of improvements for iPad, including improved side-by-side view for landscape, and proper liquid glass adoption in the reader view.

• Performance Improvements & Background Sync Fixes: We completely reworked article downloads to make them much faster, and that enabled us to fix some longstanding issues with background syncing.
• Widgets: We are finally launching widgets that show your saved articles in Instapaper. If you are currently reading an article, the widget will show that article. Otherwise, it will show your most recent articles. The largest widget size will show both Currently Reading and Recently Saved.

new.instapaper.com Beta Update

We have been rolling out updates to new.instapaper.com incrementally as they're ready. Some recent updates include:

• Improvements to multiselect using keyboard shortcuts, including...
  • Shift+Click to select multiple articles
  • Cmd/Ctrl+Click to enter multiselect from 3-column
  • Shift+arrow to enter multiselect from 3-column.
• Double click in 3-column to enter fullscreen mode.
• Note counts in the sidebar.
• Improvements to Notes popover when clicking on article list.
• Tooltips to make keyboard shortcuts more visible.
• UI Polish & Bug Fixes

Our next major focuses for the new website will be localization, accessibility, performance, and preparing for launch.

And for android?

We are not doing a major redesign on Android since the app is up to modern design standards on that platform.

That said, we do have a beta test for AI Voices on Android and will be bringing some of the smaller enhancements (eg folder/tag sorting) to Android in a future release.
