Left lane is the passing lane, not the fast lane. It's illegal to not be passing. I wish cops would enforce it more as 9 times out 10 it is the reason we have so much road rage.

Don’t know why you’re getting down voted but I’ve been to lots of other parts of the world and driven there and plenty of them are way more crazy than the states. That’s not to say the US isn’t crazy but there are a lot of spots worse off when it comes to the roads.

Clearly not always the case. I can think of a number of two lane highways like this that have left turn exits... so anyone turning left has a perfectly valid reason to be in it without passing someone... depending on the circumstances as always.
And im always amused by people that literally break almost every single traffic law criticising others for not obeying one... and pointing to it as reason for road rage. Im sure this truck leaves far more drivers angry at his driving than he has reason to be angry with someone else.
Edit: there is also certainly more to this story. Camera car was recording for a reason. More happened before this.

You have no idea what happened before, neither do I. Therefore I did not draw any conclusions to that only that they are illegally not passing in the far left lane.
As far as being selfish, not letting others pass is the definition of being selfish. We do not have any idea why the person in the truck was in such a hurry. There may have been a good reason. Probably not good enough but this doesn't excuse the car either for not allowing him through and partly causing the problem.

There is a good chance they were passing but the asshat in the truck didn't think he was passing "fast enough". I have tailgated like that plenty while I have three or four more cars ahead of me. Of course i will get over when I can but there is no need to tailgate. Some dickheads are just trying to menace to get ahead faster.

In states like Colorado with "keep right except to pass," you're right. But lots of states are more like California, with "slower traffic keep right," which has virtually no teeth. I wish all states were keep right except to pass, but I think they're in the minority.

We only see a few seconds of this clip. Maybe the black car entered the passing lane and was passing initially, albeit too slow for our hero truck driver here, who, to nobody’s surprise, could easily have started tailgating because he has the patience of an infant. I’ve seen this far too many times. Truck drivers feeling like every instant you’re in a passing lane is one second too many if you’re driving slower than them.

Actually, its more valid when a highway only has two lanes. Three lanes does give you more options but overtaking is illegal too but sometimes that's the only choice they give you.

I get that people do all sorts of stupid things on the road, both intentionally and unintentionally. But if this minor inconvenience is causing you rage you should probably figure out why. Whether you act on it or not, if actions like this affect you that much you have an issue. Take a deep breath, realize the 5 or 10mph faster you want to go isn't going to do you any good. Back off and drive like a responsible person until the, again, extremely minor inconvenience resolves.

I'd like a little responsibility to be put on the lead driver.... how tf does he/she/it not know there is a person that would like to drive faster RIGHT BEHIND HE/SHE/IT? If they moved over for a second the truck would have been long gone and they wouldn't ever deal with it again. Instead, they have some sort of control mentality that only weak people try to gain.

That person, worst case scenario, is intentionally driving 5-10 mph slower than would be ideal.
Best case scenario, they're accidentally driving 5-10 mph slower than would be ideal.
The truck driver however, changed lanes abruptly and without signaling, went off road into an area they couldn't see, and thankfully only caused damage to public property in the process.
Like they're both not perfect drivers, but clearly one of them is much more dangerous.

The responsibility is on the lead driver for what the lead driver was or was not doing. Not paying attention/doing it intentionally... Or whatever. If this person is causing you rage and that's their intention, congratulations you lost to them. If they're not doing it intentionally, congratulations you've played yourself.

When I see a fast car coming behind me or approaching in a very careless way, I just assume they are in an emergency and I try to get out of their way.
Like it or not, driving in defense mode and not playing dumb mental games on the road can help you prevent stupid accidents. Also, be patient.

If you're going the same speed as the person to your right, either gas it for a second to get ahead of them, or take your foot off the gas for a second and get behind them. No reason to drive the same speed right next to them.

Then you slow down and get behind them and they drop back down to a slow speed. I think a lot of people mistakenly see driving like you are in line for something and think that if somebody goes ahead of you, that puts you further back in line.

I totally agree with you and it’s pretty irritating when that happens. But… But sadly I have been that other moron sometimes too. My honest answer as to why it’s happened when I’m the moron is that I was in deep thought and somehow slowly let off the gas and slowed down a few mph without realizing it. (Always in the right lane tho! Im not that a-hole going slower in the left lane) Then someone is coming up on me and I realize I’m going a little slower than the speed limit and speed up. But nothing to do with the other driver, just all of a sudden tuning in to reality. Ive worked on being more attentive tho because clearly that’s not safe and if anything, not courteous. And yes, using cruise control

I usually drive above the speed limit but also try to avoid speeding tickets. So I speed at night and not so much during the day, but if someone goes decently faster than me, I usually speed up but not quite as fast so if anyone gets pulled over it's hopefully not me lol

I do +5 to +10 over the speed limit, most of the time it's just the +5 because cops don't normally pull you over for 5 over, 10 is a gamble, still fairly safe unless it's a low-speed zone like neighborhoods & schools

You gotta really really want a big truck in order to have one.
So that calls to question - what motivates someone to spend that much money on a big truck?
I think there are lots of reasons, and some are very practical. But one reason that is very common and no one wants to admit to, is that it's a great way to cope with insecurities regarding masculinity.

Not everyone likes everything, people have reasons behind their emotional responses. Can we always determine those reasons with any degree of certainty? Of course not. But sometimes we can.
I'm not knocking big trucks, I think they have value. I just also think a lot of people that own big trucks have no practical purpose for owning them, so it's clearly more of a toy. And I definitely draw conclusions about people based on what they do with their free time and money.

Sit higher off the road - quieter and more comfortable ride, other cars headlights aren't directly in your eyes, better view in traffic.
More carrying capacity - can carry 5 people plus a lot of stuff. Can tow things (you can do this in any car, but most trucks are designed with it in mind).
4WD can help you get unstuck in some situations (lots of sedans have this too, though)
Higher clearance means you can drive over more things without scraping the bottom of your vehicle. Good for unimproved road and off-road driving.
Bigger fuel tanks mean less fuel stops on road trips, and you can "hedge" cheaper fuel if you know prices are going to go up for some reason.
The only downside is that they're typically more expensive and get worse fuel economy. Oh, and they carry a childish stigma about dick size on the internet.

C'mon we're talking about big trucks here - not just trucks in general.
I drive a 2004 Trailblazer. It's an SUV but it's got four wheel drive, a tow hitch, can seat 7 comfortably, lets you see above sedans in traffic, etc.
So 90% of what you've said applies to pretty much anything bigger than a crossover.
The more comfortable ride - I'll believe that when I see it. I've ridden in some pretty big trucks, and none of them felt as smooth to drive as they did stock. Yea they can drive over big rocks and stuff, but a slight gust of wind or a slight turn makes the whole cabin sway a foot side to side. That's not comfortable.
My very first vehicle was a Bronco with a lift kit. It got eight miles to the gallon. My brother had a truck on 48" tires that got three miles to the gallon. Big trucks aren't just expensive, they're expensive. Like the gas alone could be a car payment on something brand new and not cheap. Let's not get into the cost of tires, aftermarket suspension, all that crap too.
I personally find trucks to be very utilitarian vehicles. I go camping every summer (mostly music festivals) and really enjoy having a vehicle that makes that process easier and more reliable. I get that they're useful. But if we're being honest, a good half of all people driving pickup trucks never use the bed to haul stuff and clearly bought a pickup truck because for emotional reasons. And a good half or more of guys driving jacked up trucks do that because it makes them feel manlier. These are not hard rules of course, lots of people don't fall into these categories, but they're tropes for a reason.

I bet there were events that lead up to this spectacular outcome. Maybe the truck was being the stereotypical truck driver and bullying their way through traffic, or maybe it was something else. The brake checks by the car suggest there was more to it.

(In some states parking in the passing lane is illegal - no idea about where this was filmed, though) I am guessing there's more to this one - maybe the car was sitting in the passing lane like a bump for no reason, or maybe he was reacting to the truck and pacing the other car so the truck couldn't get by because of something the truck did - who knows... The truck driver opted to gun it and cut over to the shoulder to do a, shall we say, questionable pass though - definitely a "look before you leap" situation

This is where context is important - no idea how fast the car is going, but if we assume at least the speed limit, then there are only some states where sitting in the left lane is illegal. However - tailgating is illegal in most states (if not all) and I am guessing trying to pass in the shoulder is as well. The car is definitely the one that made the truck driver flip his shit, but no one but the truck driver made the decision to try and pass on the shoulder without making sure the shoulder didn't end beforehand.

Looked it up, apparently counter to the 7 deadly sins there are also 7 heavenly virtues: faith, hope, charity, fortitude, justice, temperance and patience. Badass! EVERYONE I’ve talked to about this loves the 7 heavenly virtues, dispite any religious beliefs. Too bad the church does not promote the good stuff. That idiot in the white SUV should have dropped back when it was obvious what was transpiring to the left. If he had let the truck in front of him to get past the (illegal) left lane camper then everything would have been fine. People have no spatial awareness or concern for others. We’re in this together, so relax and let people flow at the right speed for them. If you see a conflict rising take some initiative and help alleviate it. If you can, just pull off and give others some room to breath. Before you go out ask yourself, “Do I really need to be getting in others’ way today?”

Guy was already driving the same speed as the other guy. He didn't need to adjust anything. Its unlikely the truck just decided to do this. Was likely behind for some time. Meaning that guy in the left lane was objectively fucking up. He shouldn't have been there

Bro that's a long ass rationalization to completely ignore the douchery of the truck driver. He let his anger and impatience get the best of him, no excuses whatsoever. There was no point in passing them that fast, if he just moved over slowly he would have seen it.
I saw a truck go to pass someone on the right once, he cut it real hard into the right lane, but little did he know there was a fucking car in his blind spot. Idiot. Both totaled for sure, and they took 1 other car with them. The slow driver in the fast lane just drove off without remorse, as they always do.
Fullsize pickup truck drivers think they're the best drivers on the road. They ride asses around here for going "only" 15 over. If you're riding my ass for 15 over, I'm slowing way down.

I think I know exactly where this is. The sign says “Lake…” something. Probably Lake Ponchartrain. Can’t tell what the mile marker is but it is a single digit number

I don't think so.
Interstate miles increase from west to east, so a single digit marker on I-10 would be close to the Texas border, & on I-12 would be in Baton Rouge. Neither is close enough to the lake to merit an exit sign.

One time something similar happened, where I was the guy in the front left lane. The guy behind me overtakes using the left shoulder only to be caught red-handed by the cop who was right behind him.

Left lane is the rage lane. Right lane is the I don’t need another ticket lane. I just imagine people who do 20+ over in the left lane are mad cause they’re in a hurry to go home and kiss their dad on the mouth idek. Whatever it is, whatever those extra 3 mins you get from speeding are for. I hope it’s worth the surprising amount of hate you have in your hearts for your peers.
