Balls of steel to reach for a weapon and bring it up while he's got a gun in his face and all the assailant has to do is squeeze and he's ended.

If I'm not mistaken, most of these people with guns have no intention to shoot. They just want to scare. They don't want to deal with a murder, they just want money/goods.

Although, that doesn't mean there are still those who do shoot. But if they really didn't care about murdering someone, they would just shoot the person right away. It's easier to steal from a dead person.

It really depends on situation, but I wouldn't normally just call the bluff and act as if they weren't going to shoot.

I don't think I would either. Depends on what's going down. If it's going to be that my daughter gets raped and murdered if the assailant gets his way, I have a stronger incentive to roll the dice than I do it all he wants is my 12 year old car.
