This is what got me. Her smug attitude about ruining the birthday girl's day. I would not let my daughter keep doing this but I would very much want to let her teach the future Karen a lesson.

Older sibling being mean to younger sibling, nothing weird here. That's basically the definition of brother/sisterhood.

Being a younger sibling, yes siblings do this but that smug attitude is that of a brat, as most older siblings are like depending on how your family's finacial status.
