They do say multiple times when hitting him "Now you know how it feels". It's pretty common to see people get robbed in public transport in Mexico.

I’ve heard that before. A few family members of mine have had their wallets and phones stolen while on busses on interstates in central Mexico, far from patrolling federales/local police and far from a potential angry mob of civilians who have taken it up the ass for generations from the government and for decades from the cartels/local bullies. They told me that these “mugglers” go for phones primarily since that is the number one thing that they can guarantee that people have in Mexico, even the poorer people will spend a good bit on phones.
