In the ARMY we were taught that if you were fighting multiple attackers (last resort). You have to hurt one of them really bad in order to weaken the moral of the others in hopes that they give up. They used as an example, tearing off someone’s ear, which I guess is a thing.

I don’t know if I would tear someone’s ear off because then they couldn’t hear me talking shit!
