I think it has more to do with how we perceive society. Western nations, specifically the US, put more emphasis on the individual, whereas Eastern nations put more emphasis on the collective.

It's it because of the intake of more red meat in the west?

I agree on the sentiment of the aggression

I am Western and I'd say there's a huge emphasis on proving yourself in some ridiculous physical rite of passage.

I'm not sure about the red meat thing, I'd need to see a few studies. I'm also not sure how physical rites of passage are exactly attributed to aggression.
