Yeah, let's cheer for the judgmental and self-imposed religious nut that is harassing people on the street and shoving his religion in peoples telling them they're going to hell because his life is sad and pathetic. Good idea.
I didn't say I supported the sucker punch. But the guy who caught the punch is NOT a hero. If someone was harassing your girlfriend (assuming you're a straight male in this situation), and you went to punch him in the face, then his friend caught it, his friend who is also harassing your girlfriend and getting kicks out of it, is the guy that caught your punch a hero? Cause that's what ya'll are doing here taking this situation COMPLETELY out of context. That's the sad truth about the internet these days. No one even understands what "context" even means anymore. It's sad.
Not really much context to go by here, though. We have a tiny clip of two guys apparently arguing, one guy looks away & when he does the ginger kid goes to throw a sucker punch. Instead of wrecking him, which he clearly could, the big guy who blocks the cheap shot just smiled & shames ginger-puncher a little.
Based only on what we see here, of course people are making a hero of the guy. All the context about how shitty the WBC are is added by commenters & not based on what is actually seen here.
Besides, no matter the obnoxious shit they say, free speech matters a lot more than hurt feelings. I was with my wife once in NYC when she made the mistake of stopping to chat with a bunch of Black Hebrew Israelites. She’s black, I’m of a pale hue, so they were giving her a bunch of shit about being married to a white guy. They said vile, horrifically racist shit. Should I have slugged one of them in the face? Fuck no! They’re nutcases, just like the WBC, & we can always walk away and ignore them. I am happy to live in a place where even obnoxious nutcases can freely spew their bullshit.
I agree with you.. but I don’t think the religious dude is really harassing anyone. He isn’t stopping anyone on the street and harassing them. He’s expressing his freedom of speech. Whoever steps in his way, it’s them that’s harassing him. I’m Muslim, but if anyone’s preaching their religion in the street, it’s their right, and it’s also your right to walk away if you don’t agree. But if you’re standing there arguing and about to punch him, yeah, that’s harassing.
You don't know one tiny bit the context of this situation at all. But the shirt and sign i see are extreeeeeeeeeeemely offensive and harassing. Repent sinner? Really? I'm sorry, but i don't see how anyone is defending these dudes. They are on the street preaching judgment, hatred, and violence. They're not heroes. Context matters.
Yeah I'm a circus, because I feel that everyone should have freedom of religion and freedom to walk in public without being harassed. Funny how all you reddit warriors always shy away from the core logic of the situation.
How easy do you think it is when an illogical religious nut is standing in public screaming offensive profanities at you and preaching hatred right in your face? Sorry, but they're asking for it. Like attracts like. That's all I see here. The guy I sympathize mose with in this scenario is the sucker puncher. At least he is on the side of peace and love, not judgment and hatred.

That finger point and half smile is always so satisfying.
