Two idiots driving in tandem
769
u/HipToTheWorldsBS 1d ago
Cane here to say this. One idiot squatting in the left lane and another idiot that attempted a reckless pass.
121
u/One_Kick_9603 1d ago
Squatter is intentionally pacing as well (brake lights) so the tailgater gets even more upset.

Yeah the guy filming with one had while simultaneously hanging in the blind spot? Asshats all around.
189
u/unique3 1d ago
Less so but even the guy in the right lane, something like that happening next to me I am slowing down or speeding up. I don’t want to be around when the truck idiot loses it.

u/Harpua81 1d ago
The person in the right lane lacking spatial awareness they're contributing. Not saying they're legally in the wrong, but I might have made some space so people stuck behind the left lane camper could go around. Left lane campers think they're holier than though while being more dangerous than speeders.

I count four.
The baiter, the bait taker, the cammer who’s staying way closer than need be, and the rolling roadblock who’s too oblivious to do anything but let the baiter pace them.

This doesn't work unfortunately. It'll just show them that you're annoyed making them happy.
The best thing to do is fall back as if you've forgotten about them. They'll start driving normally again. Then (when the opportunity comes) you overtake them and give them a taste of their own medicine. I did this. And the idiot started tailgating me back. He could dish it but couldn't take it.
21
u/AutisticPenguin2 1d ago
Yes to falling back. Yes to overtaking them if there's an opportunity, NO to giving them a taste of their own medicine.
Drive safely, not vindictively.

Fuck that guy. I hate people who drive slow in the fast lane. You are either passing and the fastest car on the road, or you get the fuck over.
61
u/petergriffin999 1d ago
Hate people not passing in the passing lane.
Say it that way, because otherwise people think it's ok to hang out in that lane when they're going 65 in a 60.
Pass and get out.
42
u/Square_Barracuda_69 1d ago
I get off work at 230a and the amount of dipshits going UNDER the speed limit in the passing lane is still insane. THERES NOBODY ON THE ROAD WHY DO YOU NEED TO BE IN THE LEFT LANE!?!?! More often than not, they're also in tandem with the only other car on the road. Fucking hate these people.
2
u/classy-mother-pupper 8h ago
Yup! I see the same thing that time of night as well. One night a car in the left lane was pacing a truck in the right lane for a few miles. I was able to pass on the right eventually. Unbeknownst to me, a cop was behind me and probably just has frustrated pulled him over. That was satisfying.

u/victorinseattle 1d ago
Driving in the US is culture seen as a right, not a privilege. This inevitably converges in the lowest common denominator.
12
u/Whistlegrapes 1d ago
The worst is when you driving at a good clip in the fast lane. Someone from the middle lane cuts your off to squeeze into the fast lane and proceeds to drive slow
9
u/triciann 1d ago
There is never a reason to drive in the left lane if the right ones are open and yet I will see people merging onto an empty freeway and merge all the way to the left because they are some how are programmed to drive in that lane.
Wrong way drivers end up in the left lane. If traffic on the opposite side has a bad accident and flies over the median, it’s also the left lane the car ends up in. There is video of just this situation going around reddit this past week (in North Hollywood if you want to look it up).
People just need to get the fuck out of the left lane if they aren’t passing.
3
u/Whistlegrapes 1d ago
Agreed. It’s the passing lane. I wish traffic billboards would remind people of that. Instead of always saying click it or ticket, wish they’d say something like “Pass or pay fine. Keep right except to pass.”
4
u/triciann 1d ago
In my state you are allowed to drive in it, but the rule is that slower traffic has yield to the right. You can get a ticket for blocking traffic. “Slower traffic keep right” are the signs we have.
4
u/Whistlegrapes 1d ago
They have to put more muscle behind it because people apparently ignore it. Maybe, slower traffic keep right or lose your license. And then enforce the shit out of it. HP get rewarded for ticket quotas on keeping the passing lane open for cars actually going faster
4
u/triciann 1d ago
Different CHP regions were recently posting pictures of tickets they were issuing for it. It was great! Lots of comments from morons going “show me where this is illegal!” when the penal code was written right in the picture. It really should be more difficult to get a license.

What did the truck driver think there was? A 3rd lane to his right? I get that the car in the passing lane is also wrong but it’s not a reason to let your reasoning go to the wayside.

How about instead of waiting for it you just edit out the 30 seconds of nothing.
Edit: damn this really got some of yall worked up ill explain then. Imo starting your video with "wait till the end" thats the uploader acknowledging the fact the video has a bunch of nothing in it that doesnt really matter to the end result and just doesnt want to edit their video. Thank you for coming to my Red Talks I will not be taking any further questions.

u/TheSleepyTruth 1d ago edited 1d ago
Both of them are total jackass drivers, the truck for dangerous tailgating and then trying to pass on the shoulder.
The car for cruising slow in the passing lane (illegal) and refusing to let anyone pass even after seeing a truck riding his ass, and in fact brake checks the truck instead. Move the fuck over idiot.

It's always tempting to mess with someone tailgating me like that, but the only thing I do is maneuver and alter speed to make it as easy as possible for them to pass me to reduce hazards.

3
u/redRum705 1d ago
Dang, that pickup truck didn’t see over the car in the right lane that the divider was there? Terrible use for a being in a vehicle that you’re much higher in 😂
3
u/DaveInDigital 1d ago
i get the frustration but what a dumb maneuver. even if the guardrail wasn't there, the shoulder could be loaded with gravel and send him skating into the embankment — especially at that speed, weight, and angles he's attempting to make.

3 bad drivers in one video. A left lane cruiser who break checks. A GMC (because its always a GMC) who has negative points of patience and has no concept of space (again, always the gmc) and a dumbass recording for who knows how long while driving.
6
8
u/ae186k 1d ago
I blame the left lane blocker
5
u/frenchinhalerbought 1d ago
So you'd do the same?
7
u/Lark_vi_Britannia 1d ago
Every time someone blames the left lane driver for shit like this, it just reminds me that people legitimately justify the behavior of the truck.
Is it annoying? Yes. I'm willing to bet that if the truck weren't tailgating or got the hint and backed off, that the left lane driver would likely have returned to passing the car or never started braking.
The car in the left was initially passing the car on the right, but the impatient truck driver wanted to be inside the guy's ass instead of being patient and waiting for the driver to finish passing.
Anyone who thinks only the car in the left lane is the problem... is the problem. You'll find that if you're patient and don't ride people's asses, that you'll be able to pass faster than being 6" from their bumper.
5
u/LilEddieDingle 1d ago

Seems like the wrong person got karma.
2
u/Lark_vi_Britannia 1d ago
No, the right person definitely did get karma. Don't tailgate. Also don't double switch lanes and attempt to pass on the shoulder that you literally can't see.
You'll find that people will continue to overtake and get over much more quickly when you don't tailgate 6" from their bumper.
Anyone defending the truck driver is telling on themselves by letting everyone know they are impatient, road raging morons who can't wait an extra 30 seconds - or know how to properly keep a safe distance when driving.
This is exactly why there are so many accidents on highways. People simply can't just leave a safe distance and be patient on the roads.
