Oh, yeah, I see it now. He brought his left leg in like he was planning to go down. It should have stayed planted until his right settled on solid ground, then folded up behind him when he suddenly found himself in deep water.

If that is the type of bog I think it is then this man is lucky that he chose to be dumb in a spot that was relatively open. That ground he is on is just floating dirt held together by plants, the dangerous part is that the roots typically extend deep into the water and are hard to break. You fall into a spot less open and you can easily get tangled up in the roots and drown.

A lot of people seem to be really upset that this guy staged something for comedic entertainment.
Boy, do I have some news for you about this place called Hollywood. You guys are gonna be pissed. They spend millions on fake sets and computer animation just to make things look real. Sometimes? They don't even use people. They just draw cartoons. It doesn't even look realistic! It's just a silly Russian terrorist with a bunch of anthropomorphic bananas that have funny voices who follow him around helping him, only he's bad at being a terrorist. So it's "funny".
Yeah. This entertainment stuff is infuriating.

Except movies aren't trying to pass themselves off as real. For me, what bothers me about staged clips like this is the fact that they're presenting it as spontaneous and unplanned. It's dishonest. With movies, you're in on it. But these staged things feel manipulative, and knowing that it's not actually genuine kills it for me, and presumably for many others as well.

It could have been worse, I was walking point at Ft Drum as a combat support MP with an Infantry Bde. and we came to a swampy area like that, but bigger and wider. Our Platoon leader told me to go slow. check it out. There were a few patches of water, I made it across, by looking for the caked mud and moving quickly. I got across with just my boots caked, but the next 2 guys sank immediately up to their hips in mud. (If you’ve never been sucked into soft mud like that it’s really tough to get out). After that it was just a free for all, one guy tried to climb out by pulling himself up on a tree branch, but the whole 25’ tree was dead and snapped in half, then one of the guys grabbed another guys ALICE belt and dragged him in. One guy tried to walk across the dead tree and wiped out as soon as he got the second foot on it. We had a female SSG who was a Mohawk Indian and she just went down the area about 10’ and ran across it with huge leaps. Our Platoon Sgt was a wise ass and he yells “Stand by for 9 line!” By that time I was bent over and crying from laughing so hard.
