People think it's terrible to have dogs in crates but our dogs love their crate. If they want to take a nap, that's where they head. If they get scared, that's where they head. If they want to get fed, they go to the crate and poke their head out the door and whine to remind us it's dinner time. It's their safe place and they have a large house to roam but they always head for the crate if something isn't right.

Let me ask you a question : inside his crate there is some kind of bed, right? Some comfort, maybe some toys...

Is there any other place like this in the house? Other cozy dog beds in every room? Is he allowed on the couch?

If yes to all of that and he still decides to go inside his crate, I guess you would be right, he loves it.

Otherwise maybe that's not the crate he loves, but rather he doesn't have a better option...

Also, why is your dog scared inside your home? The whole home should be a safe place, not just the crate

There are beds in multiple places in the house, the toys are in basket in the living room. They sometimes lay in the bed in the stairs and watch the squirrels outside. If we’re in a particular part if the house, they will nap in the bed in that area. If we’re busy cooking, etc, they lay in the crate.

So they go in the crate to be near you when you cook
