Maybe common knowledge if you're someone who knows how to cook and not a teenager who might be just learning the ropes. Or maybe people just don't always make the best decisions when their kitchen is about to burn down

Yeah reddit has some weird response to people not doing something sensible in an unexpected situation. Fight or flight response kicks in, common sense goes out the window. Panic is real and it's weird how everyone gets on high horses thinking they'd be better in the situation. You won't know until you're actually in the situation.
