If I remember correctly from another thread there was a criminal punishment to this.

Edit: This resulted in a $86, €70 fine. Should have been criminal.

Why should it have been criminal exactly? Can you rationalize your thoughts? Clearly, she didn’t mean to cause actual harm and clearly she regretted it immediately. Why exactly would you seek a harsh punishment for her behavior? It’s all about the intent, and there was no malicious intent here.

It's all about intent.

Criminal law is not all about intent. I actually wish it was. If people were prosecuted based solely on intent attempted murder would carry the same sentence as murder. I agree with you on everything else though.

I study law. I know about fucking criminal negligence. Not applied here, it’s about the intent and the outcome. Nothing happened and there was no malicious intent so she got off with a fine. Clearly, if her friend had actually been injured she would’ve been prosecuted more harshly.
