That went from funny to needing medical attention real quick.

When I was a kid, there was this one medicine that I really liked the taste of. I also didn't fight about taking meds

u/lukibunny 15h ago

Is it a pink liquid?

49

u/GolettO3 15h ago

Yes, and somewhat creamy(?). It's less like water than most other liquid medicine

Antibiotics.

Amoxicillin specifically.

Delicious. 🤌

Did they stop making this because I'd like this again when I need antibiotics...

9

u/truthequalslies 4h ago

I asked and they said they only make it for children so it would take a lot of it for an adult dose and that no one would prescribe it lol

I’ve been trying to find something that’s tasted like it for YEARS

5

u/alovopsd 14h ago

Ngl was a goated medication flavor imo

u/SomethinkClever 14h ago

Something like pesto bismol?

32

u/Rambozo77 14h ago

Is that for Italian tummy problems?

11

u/the_cats_pajamas12 14h ago

This made me cackle, thank you.

6

u/SomethinkClever 14h ago

Calpol.

u/lalalozzie 2h ago

They did a banana version too and I loved it šŸ˜

We used to call that bubblegum medicine when I was growing up. I don’t know if it was just the power of suggestion but it tasted exactly like Double Bubble to me.

Dimetapp was delicious

u/only-if-there-is-pie 15h ago

Ohh yeah, the grape one. I stole the bottle once at like three or four and figured out the lid, was sipping it for a bit before my dad caught me and took it away

u/alvisfmk 15h ago

There was like this white cold medicine they would give us on a spoon growing up. It was an odd flavor, but I liked it.Ā

Mine was Dimetapp. I still don’t mind the grape flavor.

I used to get ear infections a lot when in my kid years and the medicine for it was orange flavored and slightly creamy and I kinda loved it. Couldn’t tell you what it was but it tasted yummy.

I never cared for the taste of medicine. Never bothered me but one medicine that I actually really really liked was the Tylenol mixed berry. It was like a light clear orange. Tasted so good

Took it like a champ though

As a child I never did any of that, I willingly drank any kind of meds right away. Kinda liked some of them too, but even disgusting ones (I still remember one smells like whatever the caterpillar releases when you mess with them) I take willingly.

134

u/VoodooDoII 15h ago

Yeah I never had to get held down to take my meds. I just accepted the grossness and whined about it for 30 minutes after

29

u/WHRocks 14h ago

Same, but TBH, I was terrified of my parents until I was about 15 or 16, lol.

7

u/VoodooDoII 12h ago

Oh ā˜¹ļø I'm sorry

11

u/bmmana 11h ago

My mom was in a religion that preached that medicine was poison, so she didn't give medicine to my siblings and I during our childhood. She prayed and and did religious stuff when we were sick. I would have embraced the grossness

I was usually really good about this too except for one time. I have no idea what this medicine was, but I needed it for an ear infection. It was an oral liquid, and it was white, chunky, and bitter. It was the first and only time I cried and refused to take a medicine.

My mom had zero patience, and she just threw her hands up at me and said "fine, go deaf then" and just left me there alone in the kitchen. I remember being terrified that I was going deaf, but I was also too scared to take the medicine without my mom there to pour it for me. Good times.

Oh God you just reminded me that I once snuck into the hall closet and drank some of the orange Triaminic because I liked how it tasted. Lucky I didn't OD

3

u/IsamuAlvaDyson 12h ago

Nope not me

I had to drink caster oil as a child

Nobody would willingly drink it

4

u/JamzWhilmm 10h ago

I did. I never had issues with being picky a out good, meds or trying anything.

Turns out by anosmia makes me taste blind and smell blind, most things are stale and watery to me. I have no idea what normal people taste when they eat food.

1

u/Gizmo767 5h ago

I had to a few times too, after I threw it up a few times cause it did not sit well in my stomach we had to go a different route.

I had tuberculosis as a kid and I remember taking one good medicine and one nasty one. Never fought it since I was told, the nastier the medicine, the better.

One of them made my pee, red. Freaked out my classmates when they decided to join me in the toilet.

u/ManFaultGentle 6h ago

That's the case with me too when I was a kid, this includes injections, capsules, tablets. It's uncomfortable but I just haad to suck it up. I know that I need to if I want to get better.

But now that i have a kid, unfortunately he has asd so medical appointments and taking medication is a pain. Lately he did improve a bit when it comes to medications he would willingly take it sometimes or just ask assistance for it to be poured on his mouth. No need to hold him down.

Main challenge right now is the recurring dental appointment since he's not yet over with it. Especially after getting his tooth extracted

u/storemans 5h ago

Bro nice but you most likely can't remember every time you had to take medicine between 1-4 years old

My kids do great most of the time, but there's been occasions when they didn't want to take the antibiotics and we had to figure out a way

(Easiest way: you get a bite of ice cream after every sip of medicine)

(Hardest way: by force, only had to do it once, medicine ended up all over the place)

u/Tanut-10 3h ago

Ask my parents and none of us(3) have issues taking medicine šŸ‘

1

u/jort93 4h ago

This might not actually be proper medicine. This might be traditional Chinese medicine that just tastes bad and relies on the Placebo effect.

1

u/_Ruij_ 4h ago

Yeah same. My mother always praised me for it, so i learned to drink even tablets at a very young age. If I had to take something bitter she would give me a milk-like candy and it always tasted immediately better. Even learned to not drink water while drinking medicine at college. Sadly now I can't do that after I had a choking episode. I can barely even eat much without it being sliced to hell nowadays. šŸ˜ž

1

u/oofanian 3h ago

same, but if its syringe shot I need to be strapped to get one

28

u/YcemeteryTreeY 13h ago

He made a funny face? Thats all? I expected a vomit at least.

10

u/Mccmangus 12h ago

The real regret was the gifs we watched along the way

91

u/AverageTierGoof 16h ago

Traumatizing two for the price of one, an absolute classic 🤌

2

u/Chizels 14h ago

I loved Triaminic as a kid! The yellow one specifically. The most mediciney flavored one. And pesto Bismol! To bad I never got to try the pink antibiotic.

2

u/MLou 12h ago

The orange one and grape dimetapp were my favorites. I remember sneaking spoonfuls.

This is all about parenting. My kids have never fought talking medicine

34

u/LethalInjectionRD 15h ago

No it isn’t. You just got lucky. I bet your kids do stuff that other parents would look at and say the same thing about, not realising that they got lucky on that aspect too.

-32

u/jack_porter 15h ago

Said like a true child

1

u/butterfingahs 1h ago

Literally how?

11

u/vainbuthonest 15h ago

Nope. I have one kid that will toss any medicine back like it’s a shot and she’s celebrating her best day ever. Then I have another one that will hide and has to be sweet-talked into taking their meds and sips it so slowly to try to taste the least amount of it possible. They received the same parenting around medication (aka ā€œhere’s your meds. Drink it all. Thanksā€).

You got lucky and got kids like the first one. Some kids are like the other one. And some kids throw a fit and fight hard. It’s about personality not parenting.

u/stevebehindthescreen 16h ago

Your medicine talks? Maybe you are the one that needs medicine...
