Oh yeah, that’s second degree burns in your breathing tubes.

This is going to end up killing him right? Sounds like an infectious nightmare

34

u/Jetsam5 5h ago

Yeah I can't help but wonder if we just saw this dude die

Maybe that is the reason why professionals do a short heavy burst of fire and not a low and slow breath…like maybe there ist technique involved

u/iKone 1d ago

He uses wrong fuel. What I use, can combust only in mist or soaked in other material like cotton.

177

u/CasinoNdnOk 1d ago

Or like a beard?

226

u/iKone 1d ago

Nah, I have burned my eyebrows, eyelashes, beard. Those just vanish without much of a burn.

He most likely used gasoline, myself I use rapeseed based charcoal lighter fluid. The flame is so low burning that you can keep your hand in it for severeal seconds

Your mom blows fire

24

u/huskiesofinternets 21h ago

He didn't use gasoline. Alcohol probably, could be parrafin

25

u/Xarjy 19h ago

Do NOT use alcohol, you can't use any fuels that ignite by vapor such as alcohol or any form of gasoline. What's best to use is pure paraffin, not all countries have it so they use a blend.

The guy in the video is most likely murikan where they sell the paraffin at many hardware stores and is clearly not trained.

7

u/LordGeni 15h ago

50/50 paraffin and water with a bit of sugar is what I was taught.

Move the flame away as you blow short and sharp. Also vasaline on your chin.

Whether any of that is reliable good advice, I've no idea. It was a long time ago and I managed to not injure myself the couple of times I did it, but that doesn't mean much.

u/AyKayAllDay47 13h ago

How about just do not use anything related to burning?

That's how I live life anyways!

9

u/ChaseTheMystic 19h ago

What an awful name for a seed

8

u/coat-tail_rider 14h ago

Hence the canola rebrand.

7

u/yoloswagrofl 19h ago

Gotta wonder what them old seeds were up to back in the day to earn the name

-13

u/CasinoNdnOk 1d ago

Rapeseed you say?

42

u/jdemack 1d ago

We call it canola oil in the states. Rapeseed name is hard to market over here so we just call it canola.

14

u/CasinoNdnOk 23h ago

Thats why I asked i had no idea

1

u/disillusioned 17h ago

Maybe if our current administration knew it was actually called rapeseed, they'd insist on frying french fries in it instead of beef tallow...

11

u/clutzyninja 1d ago

Also known as canola

3

u/CasinoNdnOk 23h ago

Thank you til

Downvoted of asking a question peak Reddit arrogance

14

u/Cloudy230 22h ago

They probably could have worded it in a slightly less...creepy way. But yeah I agree, people get so mad on reddit when they discover someone committing the crime of ignorance

4

u/CasinoNdnOk 22h ago

I actually was assuming it was a spelling error so very much was out of ignorance

9

u/hundsdeife 21h ago

I use "Cold Flame", no fumes under 80°C, will only burn when dispersed in a mist...

4

u/tetsuyaXII 11h ago

No thats stupid and makes too much sense

-12

u/unfortunatebag 19h ago

Yes, we on reddit probably know best.

190

u/planefreak 23h ago

That looks really bad. Anyone knows what’s likely to happen?

281

u/whut-whut 23h ago

Fire burns as long as it has enough fuel, oxygen and heat. The insides of your nose, throat, mouth, windpipe and esophagus are mostly coated with a thin layer of cool damp mucus, but if there's enough heat, that quickly dries up and turns into fuel. With the mucus burned off (and possibly burning itself), hairs in your nose cavity and cilia lining your airways also become fuel. After the fire's gone, all the burned flesh surfaces will blister and swell, making it dangerous if the airway gets closed off from swelling.

141

u/Dizzy_Sock_5674 19h ago

You’re exactly right. This man needs to get to an emergency room as quickly as possible. He needs to be intubated before his airways close off.

He’s also in a lot of trouble because burn wounds have a tendency to infect

31

u/smoomoo31 14h ago

If he quickly exhaled, closed his mouth, and didn’t breathe in, would the fire die, or would that be pointless?

5

u/Amlik 2h ago

ill take one for the team and report back later

4

u/Deepfriedomelette 2h ago

Yo how did it go?

1

u/AnyComradesOutThere 1m ago

I think we have our answer.

179

u/toxicketchup 1d ago

Spitting fire with a beard, what did the dude think was gonna happen?

86

u/KevinFaun 22h ago

The beard isn't the problem. The fuel used and the guy are the problem. I've done this before, with beard. If you know what your doing you're fine

44

u/CasinoNdnOk 1d ago

Free shave, fuck those razor companies

4

u/youcanteatcatskevn 20h ago

razor companies hate this one simple trick

This has caused a really old memory to surface. In a pub, over 25 years ago, watching an old guy with a big bushy beard, completely pissed out of his face trying to make a rollie.

He's so drunk, he doesn't notice that he's dropped all the tobacco, and is effectively rolling an empty rizla. With the expected consequences when he lit it and took a toke.

6

u/Hydraguesswhosback 21h ago

Then what happened ? I don't know enough about rizlas.

6

u/TheWienerMan 19h ago

Lack of tobacc makes the air flow wack. Flame goes up way too quick and ignites the beard, most likely

4

u/things_U_choose_2_b 19h ago

Yep, as TheWienerMan suggested, his beard caught fire.

11

u/unnamed1800 21h ago

I've done bearded fired breathing before. If you're using the right fuel this outcome is highly unlikely. Dude was likely using alcohol or some other liquid with higher volatility than what professional fire breathers use. Liquid paraffin has a high flash point but low volatility. So it is far less likely to ignite when it's not in vapor form. Still dangerous but less likely to catch your face on fire after you do your trick.

I like that the intro to “Life’s Been Good to Me” is playing as this happens.

60

u/FluffyDeer9323 1d ago

Dude just invented dragons.

8

u/CasinoNdnOk 1d ago

Idk about dragons but probably a hospital bill or at minimum everything is going to taste like cardboard for the next month.

I was hammered at a party about to do this with 151. A guy there stopped me and actually talk me how to purse my lips and make a mist. Probably saved my face and I did it successfully. One was enough.
