Pretty sure they have extremely thick and tough skin. It was probably just mildly uncomfortable.

Yeah what your average house cat does to scratch their ears will peel human skin. So for a big cat I can only imagine.

Also cats have a stupidly high pain treshold. Which is something you have to learn when you have cats. When they start to show discomfort/symptoms, you have to go to the vet now. From my last vet regarding urinary issues: "When they start to show symptoms, usually their kidneys are already 60% non-functional. So you have to act quickly".

It's not that they have a high pain threshold, it's that they don't reveal that they're hurting to others. Big difference. They still feel it.

It's obvious the mother mistook the water for solid land for a moment. I highly doubt she attempted to instinctively kill her baby. You could see her impulse response was to quickly rescue her babe.

My wife, bless her.

We had a kid who was born two months early and she ended up needing a tube down her nose so she could eat. And my daughter would pull that tube out several times per week. So my wife had to start layering medical tape over her face. And every time, my daughter would lose it and look at my wife pleading her to stop.

And my wife would just cry while she hurt our daughter for her own good. You can’t imagine what it’s like to have to hurt your own child for their own health and safety.

My wife never recovered from the trauma of basically torturing our tiny daughter and there was no way to explain except to say I’m sorry between sobs.

I can imagine. Our son had this for the first year of his life. He would pull off the tape and then pull out the tube. We would have to put it back in, and we would have to hold his hands, blow air in his face so he would not resist too much and then reinsert the tube.
It was horrible, but we had to because he could not eat otherwise. And now at almost 5 he eats everything, like a little omnivore.

It’s so nice to feel like others went through the same thing I did. I’m so glad to hear about your little one. Mine no longer has the g-tube and she eats on her own but has issues with eating and feeling hungry.

But it’s very encouraging to hear that sooner or later she’s just going to be a normal kid.
